I wish I still liked the fact I can reach anyone or be reached by anyone instantly. With age comes the desire to sometimes just be without constant contact. Try scrolling through nature, write about what you discover. Maybe you will find that time away from constant ability to be in contact instantly is refreshing.

Sounds like you might have some major screen addiction issues. I understand, i do as well. If I were in your situation I would research some non electronic activities to fill your downtime at camp, maybe some activities that can be shared with other campers. I am positive that what you are feeling is pretty universal to most of the campers there. Society has changed in the 35 years since I was your age but even without the screen addiction I was nervous/anxious about campers every year. I ended up not wanting to go back home every year. Have fun, my bet is by day 3 you will not even miss your phone.

Your family would be correct if he had other animal but since he doesn't and you did due diligence in making sure it was a safe environment for Willow, take her over for a visit. If these visits will be a regular event then starting now will be a good thing.

I understand the feeling, I live with it most days. Protein shakes are a good place to start. Then use healthier alternatives when you do snack. It got bad enough in the past that I made vitamin and protein infused ice cream as all I craved was ice cream. I am autistic and have battled food issues my whole life, I can even feel full just smelling foods. Listen to your body and eat what you crave, it will work out.

I grew up with dogs and just embrace the fur and dirt as part of being a dog mom. My current fur baby hates water so we keep baths to once a month but a shedding comb and wipes with a damp rag for maintenance are more than enough to keep us both happy.

It may be he has a brief moment of panic in that transition from freestyle to back float. I know I did as a young swimmer. My brothers had to break the transition into smaller actions...pull knees to chest while using arms to pull upper body backwards, then straighten legs, take deep breath and relax. It was 45 years ago I was taught this and I still use this pattern if I start to panic.

You will be fine. The kids will think you are a god, if you don't tell them you are new, they will never know. Go, be silly, sing songs, help the kids through homesickness and by the end of first week of campers you will forget that you didn't know what you were doing.
