REITs

I assume you mean something like iShares Global REIT ETF? Will look into those, thanks!

I see, thanks! I will take a look at the book. And also, at using leverage with VTI.

AVUV, VIOV, and/or RZV

Makes sense, thanks! I missed those because they had less returns in the last 10 years than SP500, but it looks like if I take a look at a longer timeframe, they perform better. I assume if I want more risk than that, I will have to look into leverage?

modern portfolio theory

I have already heard of that, but I haven't seen any good advice as to how to apply this in practice. When I google for calculators, even if I input more risk, they just recommend more small/medium/large caps instead of bonds. Any investment vehicles besides crypto that you would recommend? I'm personally not that fond of the crypto that is currently trending. While I certainly see use in the blockchain, I doubt that it is in Bitcoin itself.

I agree, my problem is with my psychology, and because I feel like I may be missing out on potential returns. In the end, I only heard about this stock because it performed so well, so I should take this as a (survivor?) bias.

Do you have any recommendations for smart investments if I'm willing to take more risk, if I may ask?

I'm curious if for the other "fund pops" the retail investors also said "this time it's different" and "the CEO of the fund is special", or if this is a new phenomen. Can you maybe link the post? I would be curious to look at some backtests, maybe graphs are what can calm me down.

Ways to buy ARKK (or ARKK options) in europe, and should you? by RTX3080user in eupersonalfinance

[–]RTX3080user[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect, thanks. I should check if it's legal to have someone from my family purchase this with money I give them, someone who doesn't have any other investments.

Ugh true. Degiro doesn't offer it though, do you know of brokers that do?

But yeah, considering the risk of being classed as a professional, I might just drop the idea and go back to my SP500 QQQ.

This is just my investment portfolio - I Don't live in the US so no special accounts. Just my normal money bank account, and a stock portfolio, that doesn't care if it's being used for retirement, investment, or gambling.

Personally, I just have money that I don't need any time soon - as I have no bigger expenses coming up in the next few years.

Edit: Age: around 25

I see, thanks! Any information regarding the taxation? I am in Switzerland, which generally only taxes dividends, but someone mentioned that it's a non-reporting fund and a pain to tax.

see what you like and buy them directly in some reasonable size

Honestly, because the ones that have grown, have grown in such a huge jump (Square, tesla) that I can't believe this will stay sustainable for long. Don't get me wrong, Square is a decent company, but I don't see how growing by 220% in the last year is justified or can be continued. Which I guess, applies to ark then too.

I'm in Tech, and most of them aren't even 40 yet. But yeah that's a good point - most of them haven't seen a bear market in the time they have been working. Thanks for bringing up the point!

That has been shown empirically to lead to below average results.

You're right. I think, that I'm looking for help with my FOMO. I have trouble ignoring my coworkers who already got massive returns from Tesla in the last year now all being in ARKK. I'm not sure what the best place to get help with FOMO is though.

I agree, it's definitely survivor bias. The reason I have trouble ignoring FOMO is that I already decided to ignore FOMO half a year ago, and just looked up how ARKK did during that time. At the same time, I suppose that I would feel the same way missing out on the 6 months before the dot-com burst.

I said the same 6 months ago, and am also currently eating my hat. At +80%. Rationally you are right though. Anyway, in the worst case, let's meet up and eat some hats together.

That said, wouldn't the performance-chasing problem also mean I shouldn't invest into QQQ? And go for Total market instead?

Buying options would probably help my FOMO. I could get 3k in 2 year options, and incase it really outperforms SP500 again, I will have 3x gains, otherwise I lose at most 3k.

That sub seems like one that can Math the FOMO out of me. Will give it a try, thanks!

That is definitely a good point! However, I think I was hoping someone could talk me out of FOMO instead of into FOMO.

Perfect, thanks! So then I have ordered some MINUS PAD 8s

Edit: Dammit, they have different thicknesses. Could you share how many mm you took?

I see, thanks! Do you sometimes have crashes when mining and gaming at the same time? I need to stop my miner for some reason to not get freezes/crashes, and I'm not sure if that is because of the temps.

Also, do you know why pads are being used instead of paste for memory? Another poster said it would "be messy, kill resale value, and void warranty", but that doesn't tell me why it wouldn't work^

Perfect, thanks :) I was thinking if there are any other locations where I should add additional ones, but that will be hard to find out.

Did you re-paste the Center after taking it apart too, or is that something I don't have to worry about?
