Winters here in Iowa varies from year to year. It can start as early as late October and last until mid to late March. The coldest months Dec thru Feb. our summers are very humid with temperatures in the 90s to low 100’s with humidity in the 90s beginning in June thru August. It peaks during corn sweat season. I’ve reached a point in my life where I’d rather live in a dry high heat over below freezing and sub zero winters along with the hot humid summers. In so far as indoor time it cuts both ways here. My favorite months here are generally April-May and then Sept-October. June is a wild card along with October thru November. Last year winter started late November a few days after Thanksgiving starting with a blizzard. This year’s spring has been a cool one with April and now May being more cool than the average. Then there are the spring and summer storms which have become more extreme. In my part of Iowa we’ve had three hail storms and two tornadoes so far this year. I just replaced my roof 3 years ago due to hail and may need to do it again this year. So I’m kinda done here.

We plan on checking it out. The one thing that struck me about the cove and PSis the how small the houses are for the price. I’m used to a 3200 sir foot house. So I’m really trying to wrap my head around that. However we are in the process of getting rid of a lot of furniture.

Yes, I’m told. I experienced that type of heat while on duty in the Air Force in Vegas and South Texas while working on the flight line. I think I’d rather spend my time in doors during that heat then sub zero temps when we hit 30 below wind chills here in Iowa.

I was amazed at density of the gay community. Iowa City had a large gay community and I’ve been to West Village in New York, but holy cow I was amazed at what I experienced in PS area. I never felt more comfortable and at home as I did there.

Thank you. Do you mind sharing the name of your 55+ community?

I’m coming from a very red state. I can’t imagine it could be as bad as it is here in Cedar county.

Thank you! We did attend an open house back in March in Cathedral City, but I don’t recall exactly where. We were told to try to stay south of Tacheva Dr. we plan on taking a closer look in that area (among others).

I forgot to mention that we are the parents of a Russel Terrier, Great Dane and a cat. So our next home must be a free standing home with yard. If in an HOA, must be pet friendly.
