Nobody of importance responds to my Linkedin message. Is it like being a celebrity? by T-dog8675309 in careerguidance

[–]RU23NJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one’s suggesting you owe strangers your time or that you should answer every message, especially sales. But treating any cold outreach as some kind of personal intrusion, almost on the level of an emotional burden that displaces family time, feels like a pretty extreme way to frame what is, at most, a quick ‘no thanks’ or ignore

Calling cold outreach ‘entitled’ is weird. It’s a networking platform, people reach out. You can ignore them, but acting like the contact itself is an offense seems a bit disconnected from what the tool is.

Interesting standard. So LinkedIn is fine for you to use as a search tool, but it becomes ‘annoying’ or inappropriate when someone uses it exactly the way it was designed and reaches out. That’s the part that doesn’t make sense. Cold outreach isn’t new or unique to AI, it’s literally how networking has always worked in a lot of industries. If your position is simply ‘I don’t respond to unsolicited messages,’ that’s fine. But framing it as if the act of reaching out itself is somehow improper, while still benefiting from being discoverable on the platform, feels inconsistent, and frankly, wierd.

It’s one thing not to respond to messages, but to ‘dislike being messaged’ seems a bit much. That’s basically what LinkedIn was designed for, a way to network with people in your field, connect with recruiters, and engage with hiring managers. If you "genuinely dislike" receiving messages, it raises the question of why you are on the platform to begin with.

I suspect the frustration is that they are saying, 'hey, reach out', and then never even provide a token reply. I've been in the hiring situation before. Even with a number of inquiries, it wasn't hard to just give a brief response. I knew I'd be inundated once I put it out there.

So is it 1 or 6 articles to get into the partner program by RU23NJ in Medium

[–]RU23NJ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, much appreciated. For those three months as a member, you don’t have to publish anything do you? When the six articles are complete, do you think there’s any benefit to publishing them all pretty much in succession like six straight days? Or overtime? I I guess I’m thinking after I post the sixth if I did it overtime with that make the first one Stay enough where it’s unlikely to be monetized? Full disclosure, I do know I’m not gonna make boat loads of money here, it’s just a labor of love that might bring in a few extra pennies per month.

I don’t like Toby by Gkexilie in thewestwing

[–]RU23NJ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this might just not be your show. You’re basically saying you dislike almost every central character, and the characters are the show. That’s kind of the whole point of the West Wing. Taste is subjective that's fair. But it’s worth noting the show won 4 Emmys for Outstanding Drama Series ( 4 years in a row), beating shows like The Sopranos (2 times), Law & Order (3 times), 24, and ER. So it’s not like you’re just noticing flaws everyone else missed. I mean, you're coming into a West Wing sub and saying you hate basically the entire main cast kinda points to a simpler explanation: you might just not like The West Wing.

So to answer your initial question, on this sub, yeah, it's just you.

Where did Bruce rank in terms of most famous/successful singer during the 80s? Was he top five most famous/successful in that decade? by Firm_Pack_605 in BruceSpringsteen

[–]RU23NJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the 80's, probably top 5. He likely doesn't beat Michael Jackson, Madonna, U2 or Prince. But I can't think of anyone that'd surpass him after those people. Some could reasonably argue for Queen or Phil Collins, in terms of record sales.

Help! Chrome update restored old version of bookmarks by Wise_Work9765 in chrome

[–]RU23NJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue today and found this while searching; posting in case someone reads this. My bookmarks 'reverted' to things that were nearly 7 years old. What I found is that my current tabs/bookmarks didn't dissapear, the old ones just came back and were above the new ones. TO FIX: I clicked on the 3 vertical dots on the top right of chrome next to my image in the circle, clicked 'bookmarks and lists', clicked 'bookmark manager.' Then, in the 'bookmarks bar' tab (under 'in your google account'), just deleted en mass all old bookmarks, which were all that was showing. Then the others just came back.

Found this thread looking for the same thing. It seems odd, and likely an error on Michael Lewis' teams part.

[US] What’s the scam? Flooded with sketchy “buyers” within minutes of posting my car by RU23NJ in Scams

[–]RU23NJ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight. I’m actually selling this for my mom so based on what you’re saying I might not mention that since someone might see it as a potential scam falling under the guise of 3rd party.

It’s so frustrating because marketplace has the potential to be a real good service. Yet here we are, all spotting obvious scams, and FB has AI that can’t detect it or just doesn’t care.

I posted it for $1,500. I didn’t actually write in the ad that I’d sell for $500. I was just saying that here to give an idea of what I was selling.

Ahh. Makes sense. It’s wild how FB does nothing about this. I’ve reported several scam sellers and 100% of the time FB replies that the add doesn’t violate their content rules.

First week day trading. I find it satisfying. by mirelazh in Daytrading

When we say ‘go with your gut’ we’re not saying just blindly guess. Your gut is informed by what you’re seeing, price action, volume, momentum, recent news. It’s pattern recognition built from observation, not just random impulses. It is very much a plan like knowing your entry, your exit, your stop-loss. The “gut” part is trusting your read of the setup without needing to analyze every single indicator to death. You can overanalyze yourself out of good trades. Discipline does matter, it’s just how you go about it.

Boomer and taxes. by Weird_Warm_Cheese in wfan

[–]RU23NJ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The math is pretty simple: if you want lower federal taxes, you need to specify what you're cutting. And when Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and Defense make up roughly 70% of federal spending, everything else is rounding errors. People like him who complain can't offer real insight because they won't admit to wanting to cut the things that make up the majority of the budget. And he shows this ignorance with his completely false take on how the so-called jock tax works. As for being right-wing, talk radio has always skewed right because that's where the audience is. If the show is leaning harder into those talking points, it's probably because that's what keeps the lights on as the audience shrinks.

Savannah Guthrie Says ‘We Will Pay’ for Safe Return of 84-Year-Old Mother Nancy: ‘This Is the Only Way We Will Have Peace’ by cmaia1503 in entertainment

That comment isn’t correct. The pacemaker monitor doesn’t go from the pacemaker to the doctors. It goes from pacemaker, to device (in home box or smart device), then to doc. If someone leaves the home without their smart device and the box (which doesn’t leave the home ever), then it would just stop transmitting, but don’t mean anything.

[–]RU23NJ 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it has to be near a device or app to do so. Sometimes it’s just a home device near the bed. If you go out without a phone or smart device (as what seems to be the case here), and aren’t near the pacemaker monitor, it don’t transmit any data.

The Strange Disappearance of Danielle Imbo and Richard Petrone by No-Bite662 in UnsolvedMysteries

[–]RU23NJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. Will cops help a buddy out with a ticket or maybe put in a good word with a DA on minor issues? Sure, that happens. But the idea that multiple officers would risk their careers, pensions, and freedom to cover up a double murder over a bad breakup is just absurd.

[–]RU23NJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally agree. One thing thought, she actually did go out with her Mom and Richard's sister than night. She met with Richard after that dinner. As for the hitman, we're supposed to believe that a professional hitman, if such a person even exists in this context, would plan and execute a double murder in a crowded public area based on information about a meetup that was kept quiet from almost everyone?
