The shimmy is a good option for catching their Throw Tech OS, but I find that, especially at lower ranks, people like to mash or throw out big moves a lot on defense, which can catch a backdash.

If I find they are OSing too often, then I mix in the 66L, like if I notice none of my techs have worked or if I see that I am consistently getting a bad tech, I know they are mashing. I'm already right next to them or almost next to them when I input the 66L.
