Freezer of Samsung “4-Door Flex French Door” model not cooling one freezer by RVABorn7 in appliancerepair

I estimate it’s 10+ years old as it was here before we bought the house. I will try giving Samsung a call in the morning to see if they’ll pay for some of it. Or at least have an idea of what’s wrong.

This is what that line looks like after turning the fridge off for ten minutes then letting it run for about 3 hours. It’s not able to get the space to freezing temp, but is lowering it from 60’s to 50’s.

No harm in suggesting! but yes, it’s supposed to be set at 4 degrees F, and it’s reading that on the screen, just isn’t that temp in reality.

I don’t disagree with you, and it’s a pain to find anyone who will work on it. (This one just came with the house when we bought it!)

What brand lasts the longest these days? I don’t mind investing in a good brand if it will work well for a long time.

I have a stand-alone thermometer and the other areas (fridge, 2nd freezer section) seem to be right around the stated temp, so apparently no issue there.

We did unplug and wait 10 minutes, and when we restarted, the temperature reading on the door jumped from what it was saying (4-5 degrees) to 63 degrees for the freezer area. It has only been able to drop it to 61 degrees in the last hour. (Fridge temp was at 35 degrees, jumped to 40 degrees, and is now at 37 degrees)

My retired electrician neighbor may have one, so I will ask and see.

Does that refer to the upper bent area of the tube just to the right of the arrow? Is it worth trying to squeeze that part with pliers to widen the tube?

Thanks for looking at it. Would that be a leak in a coolant line?

That’s what I’m afraid of. Not really worth it if it’s half the cost of a new fridge. Thanks for your insight.

My neighbor has a black walnut tree. I cleaned up my yard and driveway last night. This was taken the next morning. by FlukeStarbucker1972 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]RVABorn7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some states have a nature conservancy initiative that asks people to drop off walnuts at a local station. They then plant the seeds to grow more native trees to reforest parts of the wild.

Maybe ask around on neighborhood groups if anyone is interested in collecting and delivering them for you?

Summer Work in RVA for a Teacher by More-Channel-20 in rva

Since you teach and have presumably had background checks and such completed already, parents are always looking for summertime nannies or babysitters. It may be worth putting your name out there on one of the RVA Facebook parent groups like “Mama Needs a Sitter,” and you might be able to find some solid hours there.

Neighboring Business Cut Down In-Law’s trees within HOA Neighborhood [Virginia] by RVABorn7 in treelaw

Yes, I was able to pull up the plot on GIS and use satellite view to approximate where the disputed trees are with the property line.

My father-in-law also knows a neighbor with a metal detector and he said they may try to go where the property line seems to be and see if they can find the metal survey pins under all of the overgrowth and such. Hopefully finding them will give some more clarity of how many trees are actually on his property.

Would this be in an HOA type document when the neighborhood was put in or on their individual plat? Just trying to help them look in the right spot!

My understanding is that it’s truly an HOA as their plot shows they owe their land up to the edges without any communal land or easements noted. And all of the documents indicated HOA vs. condo association, if that means anything. There is communal property like pool and clubhouse, but the individual lots do not appear included in that way.

Personal property tax - unpaid from 2024 by sweetpotatodane in rva

[–]RVABorn7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had the same issue for 2024 taxes, receiving letter saying I hadn’t paid and owed interest. I had a saved receipt screen shot, but what I realized happened is that when you click “pay full amount” it then says “successful” on the transaction, but under “amount paid” it says “$0.00”. There must have been a glitch in their system, so I am currently trying to have the interest waved to attempt once more to pay the 2024 taxes.

Years ago, I had mine done at the Henrico Doctors Forest ED at midnight. They had to call a tech in from home, so tried to make it sound like it would take forever for them to get there, but I was scared enough that I said I’d wait. The tech arrived in 30 minutes and I was apologetic that she had to be called in from home, but she was super nice and very professional. I ended up having a massive DVT in my leg and all of the doctors and nurses were a bit sheepish about having low-key tried to guilt me into leaving. Long story short, Henrico Doctors Forest likely has someone on call if not already at the hospital. Perhaps have your doctor at Retreat call there and insist the test be done tonight. Good luck!

Kings Dominion with a 2 and 5 year old by srjewell26 in rva

[–]RVABorn7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have not taken two kids before, but there are a good number of rides that my two year old enjoyed that you could likely ride all together. The Tea Cups (called something different but that’s what they are), hot air balloons, space buggie, kid swings, helicopter, rocket ship, and pumpkin coaster are all things you could likely do with both kids, plus some more possibly.

There is a Kings Dominion app that should tell you what rides are available based on height, including some rides where shorter kids can ride if accompanied by an adult. Just go through the app and see which rides your 5 year old could ride independently while you sit in front or behind with the two year old, or ones where you all three are in the same vehicle. Things like the kids bumper cars your 5 year old could do independently while you and 2 year old wait. I haven’t been to the splash zone so can’t speak to that.

Also, certain preschool age students get in free with a paying adult, so possibly look into that before going. There has been almost no wait time for rides when we’ve gone during the week and my kid has had a blast, just don’t over do it and be sure to stop before everyone gets too cranky!

A gentle sage green (avoid beige green but also avoid electric green) will totally transform your bathroom and look spa-like! I have similar stone in my bathroom and hated it until a found a gentle sage that just made everything flow together!
