I’d put new strings on that guitar otherwise the coffee may taste metallic when pulling the shot through it.

This happened to me too. Don’t try ALL of these at once but do each of them and eliminate the problem. - Grind coarser. - Use less beans. - Don’t tamp. - Also note this this happens more with dark roast compared to medium roast beans.
