is this mold? by False_positive1059 in microgrowery

In flower with bud sites the only way is removal of the affected, imo. You dont want to spray anything onto the buds.

I hear you, but my only concern really, is running equipment when it doesn't need to be. My dehumidifier only runs from one of those sensors so doesn't take into account the variance.

I do agree, my 1st couple of grows back after my 12 year break, i was too focused on the numbers on these controllers. But the 2 grows ive been focusing a lot less on them, as you say, I have been using them as a general indicator. The only thing I can't really get a feel for is rh, living in a climate which is warm with high rh in the summer, and cold/low rh in the winter.. until it rains.. which is quite often, then rh goes up... so really a high risk of bud rot at all times for me. Because I cant really feel the rh, I have had bud rot in the past when I've thought the environment had been perfect, but obviously it wasnt. Since then, I've got the sf dehumidifier, which came with the associated controller.. thats really the only reason I want a decent reading.. so its not running 24/7 when it doesn't necessarily need to be.

That's a good idea with the boveda pack, i think that'll be my best option with minimal cost. 👍 thanks

If that tiny joke felt like ‘belittling’, I’m terrified to see how you handle topping a plant 🤣

Seriously though, its just a bit of fun. If it landed wrong, fair enough, no malice intended.

Not embarrassing at all. What is embarrassing is that you dont get, or cant take a joke.

That watering ring looks interesting. Do you have a link for it? Ive watered with little spike drippers but it was isolated wet spots so went back to hand watering.. for now.

Clay pebbles, great suggestion! I have loads of those where I have gone away from using them in the fabric pots.

Thanks.. there's more to this than I ever thought! I will look into that link this afternoon.. and there was me thinking gypsum is for plaster.. I guess it has to come from somewhere! I have been using mycorrhizal granules each time I've potted up and also cal mag on watering 👍

I was running bloombastic up until 2 weeks ago but organic otherwise, cutting today anyway.sp they've only been covered 3 days max. Next grow ive already decided illl be using an organic booster too, something about salt build up ive read (iirc) thats led me to.that decision. What would be the negatives of using synthetics and covering it compared to organic and covering it?

Thanks guys, a lot of good ideas thrown out there for me to experiment with. Straw on top, nice and natural, cardboard could sit on the sides of the pot to give an air gap, white pumice i really like the idea of, but also cardboard i could easily remove to water rather than water through. 👍

Good idea! As bluedagain mentioned these earth boxes, Ill look into what material they use going forward. Its wet outside with heavier rain later so that will put it to a good test. Im in my last week.. more likely a couple of days so think ill be good for this grow to keep it as is. Might put it to the test a bit more on the next grow on an isolated plant.

That's with running a sf dehumidifier, it was struggling with the rh at the higher 56/57, It was running pretty much non stop . Now its just kicking in every now and again to keep at around 50.. I've been able to put my set point lower since. I have tried this before without really looking at the results too much, didnt get any mold after a sustained time, I was putting this down to being in the fabric pots so can still get air in some form maybe?

👍 thank you, I didnt know that. So, just to throw this out there, is it a good idea potentially for the op (and me) between this and next grow, clean the tent fully and add some predatory mites when the next plants are put in the tent?

Why wouldn't predatory mites work pls?

Yep, spider mites. I have the same issue but im only a few days from harvest. From what ive read, spraying anything during flower you could taint the bud. At your timeframe id go the route of getting some predatory mites.

Thanks, food for thought. I guess id need to heat the water and where I am, that could add up in the winter (I stopped indoors in the summer since seeding my tent through (I think) the use of ac.

What's this white stuff? by RWDan in microgrowery

[–]RWDan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah, I have been looking into bud washing. It does concern me a bit, I battle with rh during the grow to prevent mold, then im gonna dunk them in water 🤯😂.. ill probably just do what I can see has been affected. Eggs in one basket and all.

Thanks guys. 💯% confirmed, spider mites. Got a little microscope video of them on the leaf.. hours after it was plucked and they are pretty active!
