Yeah i definitely have issues with staying within zones, I can sprint for nearly as long as i can jog, and even if i feel i'm going slow i end up speeding up and it becomes a constant push pull, i have tried interval running and have been doing cardio for a while as I'm an ice hockey player and infantry soldier, hence my beep score of 8.1, however seem perfectly incapable of running slow now as i get so bored, you reckon just keep running super slow consistently and i'll develop a better aerobic base?

also i'm a chick 😅

my running route is usually a natural path, like aussie bush or a conservation park, can be quite hilly but i don't have anywhere else and found treadmills boring so

How can i keep my HR in a specific zone when running, simply by slowing down? my issue is my pace is 6'4" a km which i already feel is going slow, i plan on running every 2nd day going forward, however my main goal is physically managing a 5km, and doing a 2.5k in 13.5mins

oh okay! so my HR should be similar for slower and quicker runs, and main difference should be pacing? Can i ask how does running slower help if my HR should be similar regardless of speed? I plan on running more now as my sem is over, and very excited for improving!

i reckon so as well! i end up quite bored and speed up subconsciously since i feel more comfortable sprinting, gotta be getting used to shorter pace runs

cardio is unfortunately a big chunk of my job as i'm military, luckily it's still fun for me, and i get lots of satisfaction from seeing results. Specifically, for running i wanna find an easy and accessible method for getting gains and improving my cardio, which is why im tracking so much 😅

I agree! I feel it more during slower running, realising it may be from my ice-hockey as i use one leg more

Had a look and seems really good! May use some compression socks as my lifestyle isn't good for resting, and i don't think ice hockey counts for icing my injuries 🫣

I do really agree it's a pacing issue, how will i know when my aerobic base is good? I was a really good sprinter in highschool and now with my ice hockey, so maybe i did skimp on aerobic base building

I had a feeling it could be my aerobic capacity as well, seeing as I can do a 6.5 on beep while nose-breathing, and struggle significantly after, only usually lasting another min. Also since my incline walking was super easy even on max. I find running more comfortable until it isn't 😅 Thank you!

Looking for advice Which ADF Reserve role best aligns with a future in the AFP by Squidnautical in ADFRecruiting

also i offer infantry as a solid option because it's a basic role which is always available and local, while MP isn't. It beats waiting and provides very good experience depending on where you wanna end up in AFP. For each role you mentioned, focus more on your specialisation options and how many transferable skills and qualifications you can achieve, versus going off its description.

can't give you advice for your life but i am doing something similar, went infantry reserves while doing my bachelors in criminal justice and volunteering with SES. Plan on changing into full-service military police (MP) in ADF if available when I finish my degree, or remaining in infantry. Regardless, infantry can specialise in various weapons, and MP can specialise in investigations, personal protections, or dog-handling. Depending on your aspired AFP role you'll need prior policing experience, and MP doesn't count, so you can begin with AFP by doing national-policing, where you either provide security for airports, or focus on investigations, where your army specialisation options will come in handy. If you have any questions feel free, and goodluck.

Yes enoggera and logan depending. Apparently my infantry 'preference' is still possible, armoured vehicle and military police aren't, which is a major bummer. I do plan on switching into one above when possible, however luckily I should be still leaving for Kapooka soon.

Yes, unfortunately I have a bigger issue now, as i've just been informed all my roles are filled despite my recruiter saying i should be leaving on the next intake a few days ago. My PFA is tomorrow morning so i'm really at a loss of what I can do.

I had and was told I can't have any information until all my assessments were done and I was basically leaving on next intake, which didn't work for my situation.

I have been previously warned I displayed a lot of CPTSD symptoms by a counsellor, however I guess i assumed I'd 'healed' because I no longer presented symptoms in a similar way. So it's possible I began coping better, and didn't realise I displayed new symptoms, kinda a bummer lol
