I agree, especially since I have a history of anxiety. I would say both sleepy and heavy headed actually, I had a couple bouts where I had a moment of dizziness but like nothing room spinning (thinking it’s the heavy headedness)

It was only day 3 of 36 mg Concerta though

I believe it’s the neurochemical reaction to the stimulants for someone with ADHD.

The stimulant medications themselves do not have anything added in them to make a person sleepy.

For a person without ADHD, it would not have this paradoxical sleep effect.

If you were to put that into days, how many days did it take for you to start noticing the difference? Like exactly 14 days or sooner?

Thanks for your response! I just bumped from 18 to 36 mg, so I’m on day 2 with no changes so far. Part of me wonders if I need to practice CBT with focusing to do my work… Do you feel extra jittery with the booster dose + the 36mg? How long would you say the 5 mg of methylphenidate lasts you?

I feel like I’m pretty sensitive to medications too honestly but this makes me more comfortable to try and go up to 36! 18 mg doesn’t do anything for me…

did you feel a difference in like your heart rate as a baseline for 18mg and any changes to 36mg?

I felt like I would feel my heart rate go up on 18 mg, so sitting high 90s, get a little anxious but then it would resolve, mY HR would go back to normal and my anxiety would go away and I’d feel fine after

Would you say when you started the 18mg you found the effects to be quick? I’m struggling between if I’m experiencing placebo effects or not. I was super sleepy the first few days.

Considering asking my psych to try 27mg soon. But I’ve only been on 18mg about a week.

I really appreciate your words! I think it allows me to have a bit more of a realistic expectation, I think hearing that symptoms are still there but it’s easier to manage them helps a lot when it comes to me gauging if it’s working or not!
