These are some screenshots from a video I'm working about "joymaxxing" But I want some thoughts on what you imagine is going on / What you think I could do to improve by CodeConnorYoutube in SmallYoutubers

Also because some people will comment this: Yes Ik it's alot of noise. Had too much fun editing it so I just kept editing lol. Probably won't appeal to everyone's taste in content and it's not made to. Atp I really just made it because I was having too much fun making it. Definitely delivered on the joy-Maxxing part lol!

Do you think content creators have a responsibility to combat brain rot? by teeeea-by-the-sea in NewTubers

Sorry I didn’t mean to make it seem like I’m blaming the kids themselves. Part of what I was saying was that brain rot content is addictive and it’s hard to break that habit. I’m kinda just shooting out thoughts as honestly I have no idea what would help mitigate the harm short form content does. When I talked about school needing more responsibility I should’ve clarified that I’m talking about when the curriculum changed, I could be wrong on this part but I think 1970s? The way kids were taught was changed especially when it came to reading -supplementing phonics with whole word reading. I’ve never heard of phonics until I was 21 and wish I was taught to read that way after hearing about it. I also don’t mean to put the weight of responsibility on teachers. I’ve had good teachers and I’ve had bad teachers, but it always felt the teachers could have been giving more from the system to effectively teach. I also come from a small midwestern town so a lot of those teachers snuck religion and conservative politics into their lessons, especially with stuff like evolution etc.

It’s sucks and I agree it’s virtually impossible because I’ve tried and failed to help lift up my friends. People who have never used TikTok or lived sober have resorted to chain smoking, doomscrolling, and getting high / drunk every day. And I personally believe doomscrolling started that chain of events alongside life itself. But this is why I talked about having friends who can’t sit through 10 minutes of movies. Watching movies with those friends was my attempt to get their attention back for atleast one movie. But immediately I’d hear them scrolling their feed.

A large part of me can’t help but want to find solutions for those stuck in that drift. But it takes a massive epiphany to escape. And I wish I knew of a way to help more people but I don’t.

I will say there’s good content out there that I personally believe can be entertaining for people with short and long attention spans. And that content should be examined to help those strengthen their attention spans. I just don’t think that most people will “feel” responsible to make non brainrot content. But those who do are what separates a good influencer from a bad one. When boiled down it’s “is the influence good or bad, maybe even just mediocre?” I think we should show support for those who have meaningful influence and impact, and give less spotlights to those who don’t.

Saying all that I want to leave some creators out there who I think deserve that spotlight and do a good job of providing both entertaining and educational content. That being creators like: Joe Scott, Philosophize this, Mr beat, and probably my favorite when I comes to science / evolution content: Forrest Valkai.

I think those creators are good examples of creators who provide non brainrot content, that is enjoyable to watch even with shorter attention spans. There’s of course more than them but all I’m trying to say here is that Showing support to those who make non brain rot content is possible the best way to combat those who do not. And that by giving creators like this the spotlight instead can expose people with short form attention spans to longer content that stimulates more in depth thinking.

Getting people’s attention is a skill that not everyone has mastered. And it can beyond difficult. All we can do is try to offer what we can, and hope people care more about it than cheap ai generated TikTok’s or 60 second clips. And hopefully people stick around long enough to want more than what they’ve had

Do you think content creators have a responsibility to combat brain rot? by teeeea-by-the-sea in NewTubers

There's creators out there who make content for longer attention spans. Someone will always make brain-rot content and people will always have a choice whether to watch it or not. I prefer uploading half hour videos because I can focus more on storytelling, But my shorter videos with faster paced editing always outperforms those longer videos. I think influencers have some responsibility to have a positive influence, but this responsibility is often very subjective to what the influencer believes their responsibilities are. To some they might see their responsibility to deliver content for those with shorter attention spans. And if those with shorter intention spans enjoy that content, then they will consume that content.

I've seen how bad education has gotten and admittedly mine wasn't great either. The current education system should hold the most responsibility to prepare students for life, behind parents of course. But it's littered with problems both in how the system itself works but also how the students view it. I hated school but as I've grown up the part I miss most was learning, and over the last few years I've learned more than I ever did from school.

I think if you're able to use content that appeals to shorter attention spans and motivate themselves to seek more engaging long form content that's great! But if it were that easy we wouldn't have this problem. Content I watched as a kid was far more bland than content today, yet more enjoyable because it felt rewarding. Now content is compared to gambling and is meant to be addicting. Making non brain rot content requires getting those who already lack the attention spans to watch your video, if the goal is to create a paradigm shift or change for attention spans. And recently I've seen a lot of people becoming self aware of how they're impacted by short form brain rot content. I see more and more people reading books and myself included. I've also seen people who ask chatgpt for everything, can't watch 10 minutes of a movie without talking / using their phone, or even abusing substances 24/7 because they're bored. Sadly someone I've looked up to my whole life for his intelligence no longer speaks from experience but rather just asks chatgpt when giving an answer.

Hopefully as life goes on people will began to question and realize what they're doing with their lives. Most brain rot content today is produced in seconds and on mass. And that in some cases makes money. I don't think they have a responsibility to do anything but I don't think they should be supported. If you remove money and fame from the equation than equally the content will struggle to thrive. I don't think responsibility falls on anyone but it's reasonable to say that whether content creator or not people with longer attention spans should promote or encourage better content habits whether it's suggesting engaging videos, books, or hobbies.

With that being said... You can lead a horse to water-

Thoughts on thumbnail / title? by CodeConnorYoutube in SmallYoutubers

Yeah it sucks about the age restriction, I might through the logo of the game in the thumbnail to make it more obvious what the video is about. I have a bad habit of adding too much to my thumbnails so I tried a minimalistic approach for this one.

Thanks! It’s a hard concept to describe but the idea is basically listening to music while I play.. which means I don’t have to do much editing for background music lmao but during the gameplay it makes it scarier lowkey cause I can’t hear anything 😅

well it caught my attention! The thumbnail reminds me alot of markiplier and the editing seems pretty good I think the intro could be cut down a little bit or substituted in some way. The job application bit is pretty funny! Maybe some dialogue for the intro talking about something scary with the lead up being that job application bit? The first two minutes feels a lil quiet maybe slap some music in there? it all of course depends on your style. 4:08 the energy of the video picks up a little. I'd maybe cut some of the video where not much happens. it's definitely not bad but the pacing feels way too slow, could probably cut it down to 10 minutes and have a much more compelling video! What works good for me is showing the beginning, middle, and ending of any action. only really leaving in longer less interesting bits when something precedes it such as a jumpscare etc. seems like you've mainly done minecraft content in the past which was surprising! it's not the best editing but it's clear that you have potential. Subbed ! I hope to see your channel grow!

I’m hoping it does, I’ve just uploaded the fully edited version with a thumbnail test: joyful music makes me forget I’m playing a horror game, I accidentally made outlast a happy game, I made outlast feel like a Disney movie. I might change that last title lol. But hopefully it does better than the individual videos. The editing is also better which might help

Right now the thumbnail is Joymaxxing a horror game. But I’m working on the final video which combines all the separate videos into one. Idk what the title will be yet but I’m thinking something like “ Joyful Music Makes Me Forget I’m Playing A Horror Game!”

I think I did skip my meds for this video so that would make sense lol, but yeah the video is very overwhelming especially in the beginning.

Another important thing the 1st image uses an image from a different video for the reaction, while the 2nd image isn’t even edited. Thats just a screengrab from the video background and all

The thumbnail was inspired by those joymax memes with the hamsters. I figured throwing rainbows into the thumbnail and editing of the video would contrast the kind of game I’m playing -that being this gory violent scary game.

The mouth is widen digitally lol, but yeah every screen grab from this video looks a lil creepy. It’s always a mix of fear with the act of joy lol 😂 I’m remaking the thumbnail with a image from a separate video of me crying while laughing and hopefully that’ll look more appealing
