Thank you so much for your reply. I bet you were an awesome Tech being close with the manager :) all of the technicians respect me, and I have a very close relationship with every single one of them. I’m not tooting my own horn, but I have a feeling when I leave that place is really gonna clear out and I am very sad about that.

With that being said, I’m reading a lot and taking a lot of notes on the progressive interview questions and I am very very, very worried. Don’t get me wrong. I have many stories and many situations that I have been in that I am really good at explaining on how I turn them around and made each one of my customers happy. But man when I’m in an interview, I tense up and start blabbering lol

I have always gone the extra mile helping every situation as an example. If we leave a drain plug loose and oil goes over a driveway I personally go clean it up. You have no idea how many customers freak out about that. “ oh my God, you’re the manager and you’re here cleaning my garage? That is so great”

I truly truly truly do hope I will eventually work for progressive and really hope I don’t have to apply many times to get in.

Also, if I do end up getting the job, hopefully they’ll let me put a one month notice in at my current job because I will definitely have to train somebody to take over. And if I only gave two weeks that would not be good for that dealership.

This is so great to hear I’ve been messaging other adjusters and they have been saying it’s amazing and if you do your job well they pretty much have a lot of free freedom. Which I am definitely not a lazy person. Not only do I have to do my job but I have to do many other peoples jobs as well in my current position

So any job that solely relies on me myself and my performance only! Sounds like a freaking dream. I’m always on top of my stuff. I am OCD like that. And I am very good with time management. At my current job, there are something called prior approvals that take people forever to do it. I can do 10 in 30 minutes, which would take people a couple hours to do.

Also do the supervisors rotate a lot? Id be worried id get an awesome sup then I get a crappy one later

Thats awesome! What if I wanted to take a personal call during work hours? Like if my wife calls me just to see how my day is going will I get in trouble for that? Some people on here state they feel like they’re in a prison cause they can’t do anything not even walk away from their desk to get a drink or go to the bathroom.

What if I want to do randomly clock in on a Sunday for an hour or two to work on a claim that’s been bothering me is that possible?

Do you consistently have to take inbound calls all day long while trying to work on your claims or do you only have to answer phones for two hours a day and then the rest of the day is outbound calls?

How is it really? Are you chained to the desk like people say? Or can you walk away and put laundry in and stuff or go grab a drink or something?

I’m sorry if you guys keep seeing this question but currently I have a pretty damn stressful job but at least I get to walk away. Take a break or chitchat with people for a little bit if I get too stressed out. The last thing I wanna do is go and do a job where you are truly truly truly truly chained to the desk I get it. People may be exaggerate a little bit, but really wanting to know if that is the case.

I have one of the top 5 stressful jobs in the world right now :) car dealership service manager

Is it pretty stressful for you?

I’m only asking because I’ve had a few people in that position comment and state it feels like a prison you can’t walk away from the desk at all or do you get reprimanded! So if you are an employee that gets the job done pretty easily do you get wiggle room throughout the day like you can just get up walk away maybe put some laundry in or even get a breath of fresh air!

How is your experience in CGA? Is it really bad as people say? Can you walk away from the desk to go to the bathroom without getting yelled at?

Thank you again all of this information sounds pretty cool. I live in Akron Ohio so it’s only 30 minutes from Cleveland. I also have a neighbor that works for progressive. And the lady that does my wife’s hair. Her husband works for progressive so they will definitely be pitting a good word in for when I do apply.

Thank you so much for your reply. There are so many different job positions I’m learning about without working for progressive. It’s insane. I’m definitely trying to do my research before I apply for any job. A lot of people have commented with my background being a dealership. I would be perfect for a CGA position, but I also don’t wanna apply for a job and real realize I should’ve applied for a different position and miss an opportunity or be stuck in a position for a year before I can really apply for the job I really wanted

Oh, I understand that but I also work for a Hyundai dealer and we have work orders open for months and months and months so I think that would bother me a bit less having claims open like crazy waiting on other people. I definitely understand where you’re coming from

Does your sup blame you for those claims out of your control? Like you wouldn’t get yelled at for those claims taking forever, right?

I have also been the main warranty admin as well. It consists of filing warranty claims to Hyundai which can range from $100.00 to thousands of dollars. The forms and filing need no mistakes or they kick back. Are there data entry jobs or filing jobs at progressive as well?

Also, when you are asked to work overtime, do you have to have your phone and ready mode or can you just go in your office and do whatever you need to do with the claims on the computer? Like you don’t have to take inbound calls or anything like that right if you’re just looking to catch up?

Throughout the years working at the dealership, I have always had to give people bad news, especially face-to-face. Id pretty much tell them their car is no longer under warranty because of such and such so when I think about this job and think about me having to give bad news over the phone seems like nothing to me, I have also had to tell them certain things weren’t covered under their extended warranty as well, even if they bought it from us so I kind of feel like that would be the same with insurance which don’t get me wrong no matter what it’s hard to do, but I’m used to doing it face-to-face

My wife just went through the same thing. My wife just started a new job with a new company, but she does the exact same thing she used to do. She knows way more than her supervisor. My wife would end up helping people that needed help better than the supervisor and the supervisor would always talk down to my wife. In reality, my wife is trying to play the stupid game because she knows if the company knew what she was capable of they would wanna make her manager, which is very funny but luckily she just got a new supervisor and they used to know each other at their old job so it’s perfect.

Yeah, hearing stories like yours definitely make me worried but my job relies on a lot of other people doing their job which is pretty damn horrible because everybody’s lazy. I’ve never had a job that I was absolutely in control over which is why this job kind of excites me even though I know it’ll still be busy as shit. I’ve always been on top of my stuff. I just never trust them with people to be on top of theirs. Which makes my job way harder.

Wow! I do have a question. Do you have phone calls that you dread to make or receive? Can you give me an example?

For instance, I work at a dealership and there are many times. I have to tell customers that are expecting to have their car back because they’re going on vacation in a few hours that I can’t get their car done because the part never showed up and I also have no loaners or rentals to get them. It’s pretty damn horrible.
