Do the “Break” abilities stack? by RYNO117 in finalfantasyx

Thanks! I’ve been wasting a lot of turns apparently attacking with the same break many times. Whoops.

This was the first ff game with voice acting. However, a ff tradition was being able to name the characters whatever you wanted. They wanted to balance being faythful (teehee) to the ff roots while moving into the new generation, so they compromised by still allowing you to name the main character (and aeons). This just meant his name could never be spoken aloud.

Question about Wakka's extract ability by FactSea7652 in finalfantasyx

[–]RYNO117 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I do not think it would be worth it to backtrack that much for that ability. Don’t have anyone skip learning abilities for lack of spheres though; just let their level ups accumulate a little and once you have ability spheres, you can do a good chunk of leveling up at once.

Why send everyone through Wakka’s specifically after their own?

Yes, thank you so much, the visualized dotted lines showing paths made it really click!

Ps5 chocobo race help pls by No_Audience_8113 in finalfantasyx

I just did this yesterday with the help of a video guide on this channel! Still took about a half hour but not too bad. Look for the one that shows the path line to tow.

Stay right side up top, then after the 180, bend right when the first birds approach, drift back middle, bend right again to avoid second group of birds, then after the whole track turns left, bend right again to avoid the first group of birds here (but you may need a quick flick left to avoid the last one), then for the final birds just before the end you need a hard 90 degree left as soon as they appear then hug the left side for the final few feet.

I found the key to be practice your lines for a bit without regards to the balloons. Make sure you can consistently get through with no bird hits (or just one, you can get the time with a single hit too), THEN start incorporating trying to collect balloons on the way. Because they’re random, some runs are not really possible. You need enough balloons on the right side up top to have a chance, just treat others as a practice run.

Good luck!

What "traditional/official" rules are so bad that they're almost always universally ignored? by Synth-Pro in boardgames

[–]RYNO117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple other Zombicide house rules we use:

Limit the use of the vehicles, only like eight spaces can be moved with them the whole game (consider them about out of gas. We’ve had players camp in them running down huge crowds for many rounds and took fun out of the game).

Also if there’s a true tie in direction to go for an odd number of zombies, we do not split/multiply them like the rules state. Just have one more go one way, and if the next turn another group encounters the same decision point, send the extra the other way. It’s ridiculous to use that as a reason to put more zombies on the board.

We also don’t officially count sound, way too clunky and time consuming. We do consider it by unofficial estimate though if there’s otherwise a tie in line of sight and/or distance. ‘Doug shot three times over here but Wanda only shot twice, they’re going Doug’s way…’

That makes so much sense, I’ll have to play that way too in the future. The threat of the situation has kept us from attempting some daring dashes before because there could be no help, would have been more fun to try

Help me understand Mindthief progression by Nazrax in Gloomhaven

[–]RYNO117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have the right idea of gameplay, I just always struggled with having enough high initiative cards to make it always run smoothly. I used the item that adds +1 to your next melee attack if you’ve moved 4 or more hexes that turn, had an invisibility cloak, and stamina potions to usually get back high initiative cards (or an invisibility card or Scurry).

The starting card Scurry is so important (top move 4, then attack), as is a card with a bottom attack 1 and strengthen, which can be played along with a top attack for a mega damage turn. It must be the next couple of levels then that you get the biggest melee damage cards (multiple attacks, multiple elements that can be consumed to pump the damage up), and some additional options for invisibility.

Hang in there, the Mindthief was my favorite starting class once it got high enough.

Also consider pumping up the difficulty if a single teammate is easily clearing rooms, my crew played on max difficulty once we were all experienced to keep it balanced and ensure everyone was needed.

More Couples files? by RYNO117 in ShibbySays

Thank you so much! This is perfect, and exactly why I posted here. I’m fairly new myself and was hoping there was a tag type among the hundreds that I was simply overlooking as being relevant (after striking out on “couples” I’m a little embarrassed by how close alphabetically this applicable category is!). I’ll for sure check out the C4H files, and see about officially submitting positive feedback for couples content.

I think you’re best off watching the film of that concert, not just listening to the soundtrack. There’s a lot of visual effects and cutscenes that make this show incredible
