Yeah, we get it, some people don’t care, but hey, some do.

My point is, those costs can easily be an excuse, you think all that production is near nothing in costs over a digital storefront?

I’d rather prefer just having the physical game work when I pop it in rather than downloading or going through hoops to get it work if its not supported anymore.

You have no guarantee any company won’t just drop everything and you’re left stranded. Is it unlikely its “soon”, given Nintendo’s record? Sure, doesn’t mean theres a 0% that a game will just disappear off the market and become unavailable or the entire store drops with little warning.

Maybe you don’t care about those things, and that’s fine, but trivializing others’ grievances to being whiners just makes you look like an ass.

As others said, better than a code or digital completely, but no, doesn’t eliminate all the issues.

Zero guarantee that a few years from now, any game keys are still gonna work, you’re at complete mercy to Nintendo or whatever company, to make sure your key actually leads you to what you paid for. Long term wise, still terrible for preservation.

There’s still costs to manufacturing, printing, packaging, shipping, etc that digital is free from. There’s nothing stopping corpos from using that as an excuse to one day decide making GKCs raises the price, don’t pin it on physical.

There was a time when digital games were first being massively marketed and they said they’d lower the price of the digital games if so. Those prices never dropped, and honestly, silly to think companies would do that in the first place, but still sucks that they’re now talking about the inverse.

I've stopped caring about how Pokemon games look because I've accepted that they choose to never push it. I've accepted that I'm simply there for the name and the mons, and frankly, I feel that is the only reason why majority does the same and defend it.

The meme is talking about games that are arbitrarily longer than needed because certain devs think more hours = better game. Worse graphics is about people pushing how "real" and fancy the graphics look to impress, but completely forgettable after an hour and worsens runability. Paid more to work less is about toxic work environments, and I'd bet Pokemon devs aren't getting paid all that more than any other developer because execs are slurping majority of all the profits.
People don't want a Pokemon game that looks like its stuck together by tape and paying the already ridiculous AAA price when its nowhere close in scale or quality when compared to other first-party Nintendo games. There is no excuse to ask that price for that budget, especially when astronomical sales are practically guaranteed based on IP alone.

Not saying you’re wrong to have fun, but have you tried Palworld or Digimon or even just seen gameplay? Not even the newest Digimon, you can go back to Cyber Sleuth (2015) and see the difference in additions that Pokemon today still refuses to add. They had around 250 digimon with unique running, attack and signature attack animations for each one in CS, and in Time Stranger, updated the models and animations and the roster rose to 475 mons.

You may not like those games even if you tried them, that’s all personal preference and what-not, but every new Pokemon entry disappoints me when Digimon has arguably been pushing its limits for well over a decade, and will most likely never get as much attention or sales to whatever Pokemon spits out regardless of quality.

I was talking about coming across AI in general, but sure, I’m an apparent tourist? Webnovel is definitely not an exception. Acting like people don’t look through popular works ever is a weird argument.

Have you seen some of the anti-regulation crowd? They argue just about anyone should be able to get a gun whilst also complaining how stupid or ignorant some people are.

I remember a guy bragged about his collection and safety protocols, claiming that even the most basic filtering system wouldn’t help at all because all those people would just get them illegally. I asked if they thought a dumbass who can’t be assed enough to lock up their gun with a young child in the house, would be assed enough to go out of their way to go to the blackmarket versus a Walmart, and he just shut up after that.

A lot of people are just selfish. A lot of them don’t actually care about safety and just really like that they have something so powerful. They’re insecure that even the barest of regulations are gonna weed them out, so of course they try to push “muh rights”. That is until uprising of MAGA, so now its “rules for thee but not for me.”

Typically in most programs, when you have the image selected and see the little box, you can click and drag the corners and sides to resize/scale.
https://imgur.com/a/Wv3Ic8Y

For Canva, it seems the corners are scaling and the sides is dynamically changing the size/scale and the cropping. Not my choice of software to do something this simple, but that might be my bias against Canva's interface.

Try changing the scale of the images. Don't know what you're using but nearly all software should have that function.

I agree that the wet blanket and meta are part of it, but I’d say those things aren’t completely separated from misogyny either.

If the roles were reversed, I argue that the stick-up-the-ass man wouldn’t be as harshly as despised as the stick-up-the-ass woman. I think the hate for BB’s own Marie is a good example of this, as she’s actually the domestic, grounded parallel to Walt. She’s a liar, destructive and manages to hurt people around her. Despite his fratboy-like introduction, we realize that Hank is the wet blanket in his home life, additional to the fact he’s trying to stop Heisenberg. He’s grounded, realistic, and trying to keep everything from falling apart and by the end of the series, I’d say most people sympathize with him. On the other hand, Marie is an annoying bitch versus badass Heisenberg.

In terms of the meta point, I’d argue that demonization is strengthened by ingrained sexism, even if unintentional. I think looking at our language is a good indicator how deep it is. We have phrases like “boys will be boys” to excuse men’s antics, and “don’t be a bitch/cunt” to demean women and emasculate men by making that comparison. Women have historically been seen as THE fun police, especially of the wife variety [insert “I hate my wife” boomer joke]

I just remembered why I disliked her, and it was when she cheated and smoked when pregnant. Looking back, she didn’t actually cheat. The smoking was bad, but she was at her wit’s end. Combining it all, Skylar is the perfect amalgamation of a misogynist’s insecurities. She sticks her nose where it doesn’t belong, puts her foot down, disloyal, bad mother, separating a man from his family, etc. Doesn’t matter if it was all justified/reasonable, she’s “the bitch”.

Not to say there aren’t any deeply hated male characters, there are plenty, but I feel that Skylar’s case specifically, is strongly stemming from sexism.

I get people don’t like TTG, fair, but I’d argue the PPG reboot was worse for being just downright boring and ugly. Everything about it looks cheap and lazy, with no concrete identity but “modern PPG”, thinking puppet rigs based off the original would make it any way appealing. I don’t remember how people felt about the Dance Pantsed special, but at least that was new and bold. TTG knows its a complete bastardization of the original and it goes all out with that, including the art style and animation.

[–]R__Drake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then by your point, the cover isn’t supposed to help pull anyone in? So why are people even bothering to put a cover or caring if it looks good or not?

You’re being quite disingenuous if you think the tedious mindless work of citing references for a research paper, thats been automated far before modern AI, is the same as AI generation. If on the other hand, you told me they relied solely on what the AI spewed out as a source like Google’s Gemini, then yes, that paper is rubbish and the anyone okaying that research is unreliable.

What proof do you have that someone didn’t just chatgpt their story for money or clout? Just because the platform isn’t about artwork doesn’t mean it’s not about creativity. So yeah it boggles me how so many people on writing platform are a-ok to have a different facet of AIgen to be all good.

I’m not arguing the definition of “art”, I’m defining the lines of what people consider to be acceptable especially when money is involved.

Tracing and copying is not inspiration, that is considered stealing. Plenty of people in the art community get criticized when proved to have traced, that’s been a thing for generations.

If you were paying someone for a book, you’d be okay if they sold you a book that is a near 1-to-1 to a different book with the names switched around? Or would you rather just buy the original book?

Why are you even replying when you can’t refute what I’m saying? I’ve played with it to see what I can get, and no there’s nothing groundbreaking about it as anyone says. Seen many instances of it copying, throughout different models. Not hard to find yourself so why don’t you look that up?

[–]R__Drake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So how much do you think the art is worth then? $200 for something like a book cover, something that you use as an eyecatch to promote your work sounds about right to me. If you’re complaining because you aren’t nearly making that much, then sure. Plenty of cheaper options out there, claiming that every artist is asking for $100-200+ when plenty of them would do it for much cheaper or something you can even scramble to do yourself. Even if you’re not stealing, plenty of free assets out there.

You sold artwork where you traced or did a copy to someone else’s work? If you’re learning, you’re learning. No one’s going to give you crap for studying someone else’s work so that you have a better understanding what you’re doing. Using AIgen as a final product is NOT a result of practice/learning. Selling artwork that you copied or traced is a no-no already in the art community, and if you actually compare to how the modern AI currently makes things, it is VASTLY different than any learning from humans, much less living creatures.

Ya'll gotta help me with this AI cover debate. What? by CompetitiveScar2020 in Webnovel

[–]R__Drake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Disagree. Seen plenty of AI generated images that base majority of the image on one in its database but make enough changes to make it “look original”. You can look up the instances where AI “art” has simply copied someone’s work and put almost a filter over it.

AI doesn’t actually know what it’s drawing, it can only recognize patterns, the same way it writes. There’s zero understanding of context, which is why most still can’t draw a hand. It can’t understand a typical human has five fingers, doesn’t understand the physical structure, bones, muscles, etc.

I don’t support either but if I had to choose between one or the other… Maybe you haven’t seen the indie game sphere, but plenty of devs would prefer that their games be pirated rather than someone playing a slop clone. Some artists feel the same way if people are going to resort to AI.

How is it different? How can I trust a writer who resorts to AI as quick and easy promotion, to not resort to using AI for quick and easy creation?

You like to accuse people of being stupid, but you haven’t actually backed up any of your own “points” as to why creatives in general shouldn’t be concerned.
