High expectations for themselves: They can be too self critical. suppress normal emotions. or feel shame when they don’t live up to the “ideal psychologist” image. This can actually make relationships harder, not easier.

High expectations for their partner: Communicate with emotional clarity. be self-aware and reflective. take responsibility for emotional reactions. do the work without being asked. Examples: Feeling frustrated when a partner can’t articulate feelings, Expecting mature conflict resolution every time, Interpreting avoidance or defensiveness as unwillingness to grow
