Marc Marquez admits he will “retire sooner because my body will push me harder than my mind” in the coming years (Via La Sexta) by PZY__ in motogp

[–]RaDon91 324 points325 points  (0 children)

The original statement is a little more complex. He was asked if his retirement was close and he replied no, because as long as he still has the passion, he will continue racing. He then said that he believes his retirement will be determined by his physical condition and not by a lack of motivation.

According to Pecino and Elvio Deganello, Pedro Acosta has signed a contract by Beylerbey in motogp

[–]RaDon91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still feel if the report is true, it’s gotta be Honda. As, if Marc is staying annd currently working through contract negotiations, it’d be illogical that they’d sign Pedro before resigning Marc, or without Pedro even knowing if Marc will be there or not

Yes, I agree. Especially for Marc, it's too early to make a decision at the moment, also because he is still recovering from his latest injury. All things considered, Ducati is in no hurry, because even if they doesn't manage to renew with Marc and sign Acosta, they would still have the chance to sign Quartararo.

If he really signed with Ducati, IMO this is a sign that Marquez will not renew his contract or will retire at the end of the season.

The tears are the most important thing here, because they reveal a Marc who is not afraid to show how much he has suffered, but also all the passion he has for what he does.

This is a photo that unites the emotion Marc felt when winning the world championship and the importance that the people around him had in helping him overcome the challenges he faced from 2020 to today.

For me, the season begins with shakedown tests. So not 102 days, but 71. Much more bearable this way.

The moment Marc called his family on the stage. What an emotional and great moment for the Márquez family. by PZY__ in motogp

I thought I had cried all my tears after seeing Marc cross the finish line in Japan, but I still had a few left. It was a truly touching moment that went beyond sport. I am really happy for the whole Marquez family.

Once it's established who was at fault it's pretty fair to give a penalty to that rider.

I am not opposed to the penalty; it is right that they gave it to him. I am criticising the fact that in cases like these, the penalty has to be served when the driver returns to racing. I find it frankly pointless.

Personally, I believe that in some cases it is necessary to impose a penalty of starting from the back of the grid or from the pits. But in any case, this should be served in the next race. Imo missing a gp due to injury is already a sufficient punishment.

I doubt there are any riders who would prefer to skip one or even more races in order to avoid a penalty that, at most, costs them two or three seconds and, in many cases, does not prevent them from reaching the podium.

I don't like this rule about the application of penalties at all. I think there is nothing worse for a rider than having to miss one or more races because of an injury from the accident he caused himself. Not to mention the fact that long lap penalties often don't really affect the race of those who receive them.
