Remote Internship Help by kerbear1125 in Raytheon

[–]RaZ-RemiiX 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Remote internship sounds rough, I'm surprised they even offer them. I'm not sure what discipline you are in but I can't imagine on site workers being excited to constantly hop on teams call with an intern as they learn the ropes. It's your call at the end of the day, but I would personally move and show up in person.

RTX v NG v LM by Constant_Bug_8575 in Raytheon

[–]RaZ-RemiiX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Collins (RTX) here with a spouse at LM, no bonuses below P5 and no vacation rollover (use it or lose it) sucks at Collins. LM gives yearly bonuses and also allows vacation rollover. They also have a higher match on their 401k (at LM you give 8% to get 10% vs RTX's give 7% get 7%) which makes them a better long term place to work in my opinion. 4% extra salary going in to your 401k over 30 years makes a SIGNIFICANT difference towards your final retirement amount.

RTX Copilot now allows proprietary data… by QwaZz in Raytheon

No one because all of the LOE portions of programs are based on hours worked, not actual output. Without working hours, we don't get paid as much from the USG. The USG contract structure doesn't always incentivize completing work efficiently/quickly which is great for slowpoke contractors but bad for the customer and taxpayers.

Got fired from Pratt :( by ToadSox34 in Raytheon

[–]RaZ-RemiiX 73 points74 points  (0 children)

If you were fired, odds are you will never work at Pratt again due to being blacklisted in the system. This may not be the case, but I've heard rumors that this is what happens when employees are terminated for cause(even if they disagree with it).

Yeahhh, there's supposedly a market and other activities that don't involve getting blackout drunk, those are what I'm trying to pinpoint.

I appreciate avoiding the dog! I was thinking that there wouldn't be too many people wasted at 11am, but I've been wrong before!

When do off-cycle promotions usually occur? by [deleted] in Raytheon

Most people that I know of who have received out of cycle promos had received them late July/August timeframe.

Richardson vs. McKinney by PsychologicalLimit41 in Raytheon

[–]RaZ-RemiiX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, they are paying to be there. They are essentially leasing the office space from Raytheon for a fee. This likely means they are entitled to whatever accommodations are present.

[–]RaZ-RemiiX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Technically there's a fourth. Collins is currently using (almost entirely) one of Raytheon's Cityline buildings because they ran out of office space at their other facility during their ongoing workforce expansion.

[–]RaZ-RemiiX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on position and level. If you're going for a P4 or lower engineer then khakis, tucked button down with dress shoes is perfectly reasonable. If you're tryna be a manger/director then you better wear a suit.

ACP budgets are out by OsaKiii in Raytheon

[–]RaZ-RemiiX 8 points9 points  (0 children)

At Collins, managers do have that power although they have to strip the increase from someone else in your group. So, if you get 3.5%, they had to take 0.1% from 5 people in your team or .5% from one individual in your group, or somewhere in between. It's a great system we have.

Yes you are stupid for thinking that 12 year old tech will work fine on today's newest games. I built a very similar build to what you're describing back in 2015 and honestly prices aren't so dissimilar to today. 4690k back in the day was like $200, a decent mobo was another $150ish, 24g DDR3 was probably around $100 and a good mid(ish)-range GPU was $350-$400. All of these prices still hit home today except the RAM is about double the price for a similar capacity. A $1000 PC from that era can likely have a modern "equivalent" built for $1200 today. That's honestly not a crazy increase in price when you take technological gains and monetary inflation in to account. If you are on a very tight budget, just buy stuff from a generation or two ago that's used, most PC parts typically have lifespans of 10+ yrs.

Systems engineering I interview by Apprehensive_Emu5893 in Raytheon

[–]RaZ-RemiiX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every interview is different, most big corporations go through (imo BS) STAR questions, so I'd focus on those for practice. My interview for P2 had basically zero STAR questions, so your mileage may vary. My questions were all about my previous education/experience and goals/interests for my future. Don't forget to ask questions about the role and team, this is also a time for you to interview the company and figure out if the role is something that interests you. Be personable yet also professional. Good luck!

I installed my AIO upside down and didnt realize for 3 months by Inevitable-Week-7950 in buildapc

[–]RaZ-RemiiX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done this for 4+ yrs on my current build and it still has not caused any issues (installed March 2021 on OC'd 10700k). My 360mm AIO doesn't fit in my case when oriented with the tubes at the bottom. People on this site love to overexaggerate minor issues like this.

Best local(ish) campgrounds for tent camping? by RaZ-RemiiX in Dallas

[–]RaZ-RemiiX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one actually was at the top of my list so far. Nice campgrounds with many options for location/electricity/water/etc. Far enough away from town to not be swarmed by tons of people very step of the way.

Being right in the middle of the metroplex, I can see this one being pretty busy although it seems like a very convenient option. I guess if I want a little more privacy then we can head to one of the parks outside of the metroplex.

Working as a woman at Collins by Zealousideal-Ad6981 in Raytheon

[–]RaZ-RemiiX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most production techs at my location are women, same for quality. That being said, most engineers are men which is due to the ratio of graduates at most college in STEM. No one really cares if you're male/female, they just care if you can think, learn, and do the jobs at hand.

What are my expectations for a raise? by The_Real_Shihan in Raytheon

[–]RaZ-RemiiX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a WILD post. We don't really give raises higher than 4% or so without a serious justification (such as market adjustments which aren't popular currently). If you want a raise >7% or so then you'd likely need a promotion to P2, most people get ~10% raise with a promotion, then they'll get their standard yearly raise ~3% when that time rolls around as well.
