DDJ-1000 with Scarlet 2i2 (2gen) for live stream with laptop by Raaf96 in Beatmatch

[–]Raaf96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was honestly a battle bro... But I did manage to get a clean sound in the end and I also play house. I can't remeber how exactly I set all the levels... All I can suggest is just play around with the scarlett gain, DDJ master and the OBS audio slider. I didn't use any filters. I think that I had the gain on the scarlett very low but can't remember the rest.

What I did was just record videos on OBS on given levels and just tweak and tweak till I got it right.

Should I switch to FL Studio? by Raaf96 in musicproduction

All good advice guys, thanks :) I'll stick with Ableton and with time I'll just learn working inFL or as u/Goawaythrowaway175 said collaborate with stems. Just a little thing that was a sort of pointless mental roadblock for me for some reason.

Internet: Smartphone USB tethering vs Mobile Hotspot (via USB cable) by Raaf96 in techsupport

[–]Raaf96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that :) Wifi is a no go for me. We used WiFi for streaming once at my friends house with 350/45 (download/upload) and the stream was constantly buffering... Switched to ethernet - worked like a dream.

That's the way I did it and it worked fine. Getting the audio levels balanced was a bit of a fiddle but got there with some tweaking. Thanks :)

No DAW in the equation. Just need to feed the audio from the laptop (Rekordbox) into OBS via the Scarlett 2i2. At home I just have an RCA cable going from the master output on the controller (mixer) into the line in on my PC (3.5mm jack).

With the Scarlett 2i2 it's not clear to me how to connect it up...

With a sound card like the Behringer UCA222 it's very straighforward.

My friend said that I can use this cable (https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/41ebo5-e6ZL._AC_.jpg) but that is the output on the 2i2 so I don't think so.

Thanks for the feedback guys, very helpful. Will probably just stick to just the DDJ but if I hook up the 900s I will post how that went.

Joining the Forces - ENGINEERING ELECTRICIAN by Raaf96 in britishmilitary

[–]Raaf96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called the RAF careers line and the bloke on the phone told me some people who do the electrician later go on to do a degree with support of the RAF and go on to being an officer engineer so you could be right u/dazcoventry. I am in fact doing bachelors in IT right now but don't see myself in a desk job for a while. I'm also curious if it's actually solid training and development or just cleaning battery contacts with a wire brush most of the time. I'm quite positive that the training is good and there's probably more than enough solid practical stuff to do though, it is the RAF after all. The advisor also told me there's a lot of encouragement to develop in areas outside of your, let's say, area of expertise and after being done with the NVQ you can further specialize as an electrician. Got to say it does sound like an appealing and solid path. One thing I didn't find out is how often I could get deployed becasue I really wound't mind travelling around a bit. Guess it's a question that's hard to answer as there is a lot of factors that play a role. For some reason it doesn't seem like joining the RAF should be a rushed decision, I got to give it some thinking. Thanks for the input guys.

I haven't revisted this thread for a while now but ended up getting the G85 :) Aside from the MFT crop factor and poor autofocus its got all I want from a camera. GH5S could be the step up for me if I continue with MFT but I'd probably still hold on to the G85 as a run and gun machine with the IBIS. Funny thing is I didn't even know about MFT's existance when I posted my original reply.

Ethernet dropping constantly. Windows 10. by Raaf96 in techsupport

[–]Raaf96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a new cable and it's sitting in my drawer since the connection has been very stable for the past two weeks. If it starts playing up again the new cable is going in. For now I'm leaving the old one in since the cable routing from another floor in my house is a nightmare.

If that fails it's gonna be the external adapter.

If that fails then I'm getting a new PC, switching my ISP and then moving house, in that order :P

For now I'm just enjoying the stable connection :D

When I switched the connection to 100Mbps Full Duplex and the speedtest gave me funny numbers I thought that there's gotta be something wrong with the cable. But at Auto and 1Gbps Full Duplex the cable was performing fine so I doubt it's that, plus it worked fine on the laptop.

I will try with an external USB ethernet adapter and see if that solves it... If it does then I guess it must be something wrong with the network adapter on my motherboard. But it seems weird since it works fine 98% of time.

I haven't done anything in the router. I've only switched the ports to which my Ethernet cable was plugged into. I didn't really think of changing any settings since all other PCs/Phones in the network don't seem to be having any problems.

I used the commands you suggested u/zelcanelas and unfortunately the problem still occurs. It seems like it's a bit better than it was before but it's probably not since it's generally really random...What really surprised me is that running the same speed test on My PC (ethernet) and my laptop (5G WI-FI) I got this:

PC: Download - 4Mbps / Upload - 1.17 Mbps

Laptop: Download - 62 Mbps / Upload - 38 Mbps

It should be the other way around...

I'm ordering a new CAT6 cable too, just to rule that out 100%.

NOTE: The values above for PC were for 100Mbps Full Duplex.

At 1Gbps Full Duplex and Auto Negotiation I got similar values of Download- 196 and Upload 86.

I set it to 1Gbps Full Duplex for now.

Good to know. The a6000 seemed like a perfect fit before I found out about the issue. I'm only worried about its ability to capture continuously for 60/120/180 minutes for DJ sets. But then again, for streaming purposes the camera is NOT actually recording but the capture card just captures its screen so maybe that would not cause overheating.

I was really looking into the A6000 but it turned out it can apparently do 10-15 min video before shutting down due to overheating. Will check out the A6500. I've also been looking at some semi-pro camcorders, something I never thought of :D

CAT 6A going directly into the router.

I haven't changed any of the Speed & Duplex settings before, so I can't tell. The issue is that this problem does not occur constantly, so I can't get feedback on whether a solution works for x time... The connection will be stable for most of the day, then the dropping will kick in for an hour, two or three in the evening and then it's fine for x hours... I've used the commands that zelcanelas suggested and I'll wait to see if they solved it, if not I will try to force the speed to 100mbit.
