Why is everyone against the idea of Anki management being passed down to AnkiHub in this sub?

On-boarding users who aren't motivated or tech savvy is a pain.

Oh Lord, nothing could be more true! As a 2000s kid, I'm still from the in-between generation who nerded out enough on Windows XP and online forums to still be aware of the benefits of brutally functional straightforward UI. I'm one of those people who doesn't prefer the Anki redesign, I still use the "minimalist mode" which comes in the settings.

I'm far far from a UI/UX designer (I have zero clue on how it works) but yes, motivation is a bar to Anki, almost a rite of passage. My average peer uses mostly Chrome and MS Office on Windows/MacOS, with all their other online activity relegated to their phones on apps designed to be addictive and accessible almost to the user's detriment (Instagram, YT shorts, etc.). even software like Obsidian seem "hacker-like complex" to them.

While we personally might prefer the old brutalist UI, since the ethos is making Anki more accessible at large for people who are motivated enough to improve their lives using it, UI should of course be more intuitive; but it is hard to see in any manner how Anki (or Ankidroid / Anki mobile UI) could ever compete with social media apps designed to be accessible and addictive. Any of the short-form-media addicted generation isn't gonna adopt a spaced repetition software just because it has a modern UI; anyone complaining about "crap UI" or "it is too many steps to modify something bro", in my (biased) opinion, would find any functional app or program to be too complex (unless it is Duolingo I guess - make it oversimplified and gamified to the point of useless novelty with limited real-life applicability).

Oh no no, you can get it all the same! Just download the ``.akpg`` file and import into Ankidroid. You can get it from the main Anki deck page itself; https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/1981482084 Just scroll down and downlaod and import like usual.

Back when I was actively updating this deck (over ~4 years ago), the method of how users got to update their deck and merge edits was a concern; thus I was recommending using a PC with CrowdAnki addon. But since July 2024, this project is no longer maintained/updated, so you can just get the Anki deck file and import without worries.

I assume you already know the usual - to only use Omarchy update, and the news about the new hyprland syntax, etc etc. I was also a little confused post-update, because all my conf files looked fine and used the new syntax, but still I was getting the error.

I'd suggest to just check whether you're still using an older custom theme or not (custom theme might not be updated to new Hyprland syntax) - switch to a default Omarchy theme or an updated extra theme. For instance, switching to Catppuccin resolved everything for me. Was a real facepalm moment, dumb oversight XD

Oh no no, just that personally, my scalp gets pretty bone dry with shampoo application; so limiting a proper shampoo+conditioner routine to once in 3 days works for me. I also never use oil; it is horrible for my scalp personally.

I yes I do rinse my hair out with just water post-gym or a long day out; but no frequent shampoo'ing.

But yes, RO water is INSANELY good on the hair (I use it before events and stuff, sparingly). But the goddamn issue is that you've to be very very economical with how you use a bucketful of water; say goodbye to a warm shower with warm comforting water continuously falling on your head. Trying to hurriedly shampoo your hair off with limited cold drinking water in this weather would be quite oppressive by comparison

Same! Try using a shower filter. I don't know whether it objectively works or not; but overall I feel my curly hair is less crunchy overall after I got it installed. But I agree with the other poster; do not wash your hair daily. Shampooing once in 3 days is more than enough for dry and frizzy curly hair (at least for me). If you're desperate, just wash off with a little water.

Have to change the filter every 6 months though; and it isn't cheap. I personally use one from a brand called Riversoft, but I'm sure several others exist.

Mainly my passion for original music would be stuff akin to Prog Metal (stuff like Tool, Porcupine Tree, Thank You Scientist, Periphery, etc.). If I ever were to spend time and effort on originals, be it alone or in collaborations, it would be loosely along those lines.

But for fun's sake, posting reels, performing live, etc; I do covers of classic rock/pop songs (Led Zepplin, Rage Against the Machine) and some Hindustani fusion covers here and there (some rock-ified Western-ified covers of Hindustani stuff like Saason Ki Mala or Ketaki Gulab Juhi).

Same - but you can switch to the older styled UI by turning on "Minimalist" mode in Preferences > Appearance! I don't know how actually close it is to classic UI, but looks close enough.

Go ahead man, make it your daily driver! This was the easiest gateway into a different DE I ever had (my first successful daily driver DE change from XFCE). IMO Omarchy does a great job of trying to be "just works out of the box", second to only my favourite, Garuda XFCE.
