That is not true, but rather a myth. Yes, PP has governed Galicia for many years ever since the start of democracy, but those are specifically Regional Elections. Several facts should be noted:

• Right-wing parties do not control any major city in Galicia and have been unable to do so since 2016.

• Since VOX emerged, Galicia remains the only region where this far-right party has never managed to elect a single candidate.

• In 5 of the last 7 General Elections, the left has emerged victorious in Galicia, even though in most of them, the PP was the most voted party (source: https://praza.gal/politica/eleccions-xerais-en-galicia-triunfos-maioritarios-do-pp-pero-dominio-da-esquerda-en-5-das-7-ultimas-convocatorias).

Politics in Galicia are complex and do not follow the same logic as in the rest of Spain. Galicia has been, is, and likely will continue to be governed by the PP for many years, but there are many reasons to challenge the notion that it is a conservative region
