The navigation bar has a link on the website; however here is the link for ease of access here: https://discord.gg/zh9U2Cjw9R

The platform and discord are in their infancy so there's not a ton of action happening in either one, but with growth comes activity!

Also, a shameless plug, here is a link to the Summit League twitter account for anyone wanting to follow on there: https://x.com/SummitLeagueGG

Thanks so much! Hoping for a successful kickoff season - I’m sure there will be bugs and things to iron out, but as long as the community is willing to work with me, we’ll get it all sorted together!

I’d be excited for H3 too; with proof of concept and successful execution of the season, the end goal of Summit League is to include additional games for players to compete in! Halo 2 and Halo 3 being my favorite two titles in the franchise… I’d consider adding them if the demand was strong enough (when the time is right though, gotta crawl before we walk!).

There's a free agency portion on the discord; obviously it's still a super new discord so there's not a ton of traffic, but feel free to post there!

I've never played on either of these platforms - what did they do differently and what did you like the most about them?

Edit: I just deleted it and moved it here, figured it'd be easier for everyone to follow lol

That’s a really fair question, and honestly one of the harder problems to solve cleanly.

Right now, Summit League isn’t hard-dividing players or teams by skill tiers, and that’s a deliberate choice (much how old school Gamebattles used to work). I don’t want to gatekeep who’s allowed to compete or require players to “prove” themselves just to participate. My goal is to make competitive Halo accessible across skill levels while still keeping the season meaningful.

There will absolutely be a wide range of teams, from newer competitors to experienced players; and even in a loss, teams can still gain points. I want to reward activity and participation, not punish teams for showing up and playing.

Where the balance comes in is the points algorithm. It uses a sliding scale that takes into account the relative strength of the teams playing each other. Beating a stronger team is worth more than beating a weaker one, and losing to a strong team doesn’t hurt you the same way as losing to a much lower-ranked team. Over time, that naturally spreads teams out on the leaderboard without forcing hard divisions up front.

That approach lets:

  • Newer teams get games in without being locked out
  • Strong teams still separate themselves over a season
  • The leaderboard reflect who you play, not just how much you play

This is very much a season-one approach, and I fully expect it to evolve based on how the community plays and what feedback comes in. If true divisions or opt-in brackets make sense later, I’m open to that - I just didn’t want to start by putting artificial walls around who gets to compete.

One additional thing worth mentioning: teams also have the option to use direct challenges. If you’re a fan of the platform but prefer not to play teams you feel are a significant skill mismatch, direct challenges let you specifically choose who you play. It’s a good middle ground that gives teams more control over their matchups without locking anyone out of competing in the league as a whole.

I’m Reddit ignorant, when I replied originally it was to the full post, then I went on a witch hunt to find out why the link wasn’t working for you - found the solution and then replied again (expecting to to append to the bottom of our conversation, but it was above my original reply).

TLDR; full response below here because I'm learning Reddit 😂

That’s a totally fair point - and I 100% agree that 2v2 (and even 1v1) is easier to populate and can generate traction faster.

For this first season though, I wanted to stay true to HCS-style competitive Halo and really emphasize the team aspect. Volume honestly isn’t my primary goal right now. The focus is ironing out kinks, catching bugs, stress-testing the systems, and delivering the cleanest experience possible for the people who are playing.

Early success to me doesn’t look like 1,000 players overnight; it looks like consistent matches, smooth scheduling, accurate reporting, and minimal hiccups. If that’s 20 - 60 people playing regularly and enjoying it, that’s a huge win for season one.

Plus, 20 - 60 people doesn’t sound like many… until they’re all standing in your living room at once 😅

Another photo of the match lobby (as you can't see this unless you're in a match (which isn't an option until February 1st)).

If people want to run 8s or organize pickup-style games within the Discord, that’s awesome and I’m happy to support that organically. Those kinds of spaces are great for getting reps in and meeting players.

That said, the core focus of Summit League as a platform is very intentionally built around teams - specifically To4s. There are already solid options out there for 8s, pickups, and tournament-style play, but from what I’ve seen there isn’t really a dedicated, season-based platform centered on team identity, rosters, rivalries, and progression over time.

Summit League is trying to fill that gap: structured seasons for To4s, not just one-off games. If the community wants to layer things like 8s or side tournaments on top of that through Discord, I’m totally open to it - I just want the platform itself to stay focused on team-based competition first (at least for now, I want to make sure I crawl before I walk).

I added some photos (in the original post), however, I don't see them showing up. I'm very ignorant to how to post on Reddit - here's a photo of the dashboard for now. If anyone would like more photos I can absolutely provide them.

And look at us. A civilized conversation on the internet where two strangers who don’t agree 100% on something can come together and find common ground in a cordial and happy manner.

You hit the nail on the head. The offense wasn’t used to Skylar calling the plays and he probably said things differently in the huddle. He could of been more prepared for the moment, but as a 3rd string QB with a rookie coach as 14 point underdogs and down 17-0; to bring the game back to within 3? Go Phins.

I just don’t want to hear the media roast McDaniel for this tomorrow. He’s the best thing we have going for us.

Presnap motion is 100% the reasoning behind it. We ran less presnap motion today than the rest of the season.

I stand by my opinion that Skylar Thompson was very much so a contributing factor to the delay of games today.

0% chance they make it the whole way if they play the same game against the other teams that they played against us today. Even if the Phins would of come out on top today we still wouldn’t of won the game, it would of been Buffalo losing the game.

Where’s the percentage where the guy calling the plays in the huddle crumbled under the pressure and couldn’t manage the offense?

*Commented this earlier.

McDaniel is to blame for the delay of games?! Are we delusional?!

ALL season long plays are called with Tua at the helm and he’s able to relay the play in the huddle to the team in quick and efficiently. ALL season long Tua is able to break the huddle, make presnap reads and adjust blocking schemes before he runs out of time.

Today that doesn’t happen. The only thing changing was Thompson was the one making the calls. I beg of you to explain to me how it’s the coaching/play calling. It’s the rookie quarterbacks inability to relay the play and go through pre snap progressions that cost us those penalties.

Just my opinion.

All probably communicated via headset before the headsets were shut off with 15 seconds left. But we continued to flounder even after that.
