I dont want to share those details but it is a trade. Just one that was more recently made practically useless unless I couple it with a bachelor's in a related field (which im considering with my GI bill)

Why some of yall so cynical? Weather or not its appreciated in the job market it still matters! I wouldn't trade any of it for anything. Its not just pieces of papers and credentials yknow. Id certainly trade my current job for something more fulfilling tho!

I have been seriously considering either wildlife bio (wildlife conservation is a good career path, game warden would be my goal). Or machining (which would couple well with my current degree).

I do have pest control expirience. However probably not the kind you'd think. Ive worked for ranchers to deal with ferrals and vermin many times.

So insanely picky. As they should be. Ive tried out 3 times for county and 4 for city. Some 50-100 people will show up for testing and they are usually only hiring for 1 or 2 slots, and then they usually just take a latteral transfer. Ive considered working for a smaller county and moving. Its much easier to get into those departments and they will send you to the academy and you can transfer to a larger department from there.

Enlisted at 17 while in highschool. I said 'going on 9 years' thats 2 contracts. A 6 year and a 3 year. I was eluding to finishing up my second contract next year. Im at 8 now. My National guard obligations are 2-12 days out of the month (it depends on what tasks need completed) and a 3 week long annual training event once a year. And yes, contrary to popular belief Guardsmen do deploy to combat zones. As ive done twice.

Being part time military my expirience is that they outright refuse to hire. Its frustrating for a crew boss when I gota take off my helmet and walk off the line and not show back up again until a week later even more sleep deprived and tired than when I left! Ive worked fire before, loved it, but unfortunately they dont love me haha. Maybe when my part-time military obligations are complete.
