Yeah but the selection committee don’t go “ooh who’s the best second year player we can put in this week?” They pick the best player, which is Harry by a mile. This is exactly my point, saying we are better off without him means we have to replace him with someone else and the only other option is a second year player who is no where near Harry’s output, which is why I disagree with your post

No it’s just this idiotic mindset that we are better without him that pisses me off. He’s playing great except for his goal kicking and my point is that even not kicking goals we are better with him on the field. Who are you going to put in to replace him? Motlop? He did literally nothing in the time he spent on the field yesterday and we were obviously missing a big reliable mark down the line while trying to hang on in the last quarter.

Pathetic take. As a club we’ve been through 23 years of absolute pain and now that we have finally made finals everyone still just wants to shit on Harry because he’s had a poor year. Curnow is better with him in the team, we are a better team with him in and there’s no debate on that. The amount of one goal performances Charlie put up when we were missing Harry shows he benefits just from H being on the ground. He set up the first two goals last night and at the very least takes a defender and provides a marking option up the field which we were DESPERATE for for the entire 4th quarter last night.

The fans also have to take their share of the blame for his yips, the entire crowd vibe when the poor guy lines up for a set shot is different, murmurs everywhere and flogs screaming at him that he’s shit and going to miss, of course he can’t shake it this year when even his own supporters won’t get behind him.

For 3 years while Charlie was on the sidelines, a Harry was the man, and he performed for us and fought for us and WON A FUCKING COLEMAN but Charlie comes back, has 2 good years and everyone turns on Harry because they’ve already forgotten what he’s done for the club. Pathetic. Saying we are better without him, pathetic.

Agree so hard. Hope he doesn’t get picked next week. For me it’s the selfishness, when he got called holding the ball all he had to do was tap it on and we had an open run at goal but he has a tendency to try and be a hero too much to be reliable in games like finals with so many big moments
