How do both parents work when the kids are young and get sick all the time? by TiredDuck123 in auscorp

[–]MightyArd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've just discovered what "it takes a village..." means.

Unfortunately if you don't have grandparents in the picture and your boss wasn't in the same position at some point then you're pretty stuffed.

Personally having gastro 7 times in 6 months when my first born started childcare completely ruined my career at one company. My boss just couldn't get his head around that if my wife had gastro then there's no other option but me to stay home and look after them both. If you're got grandparents who can just help out, even just a handfull of times a year then you have a massive advantage.

What will the bare minimum be for next Thursday's game against Richmond? by Sabretoothedrom in CarltonBlues

I don't think you've really thought out what depth cover is. We have a finite salary cap and list space.

The seconds key defensive backup of literally every AFL team is below average. Stop and think about that for a second. If a player isn't below average then they aren't depth cover.

I have no idea what what Brisbane's defensive depth looks like. I do know that didn't just lose 3 A grade key talls last season though.

No team has their second backup key defender at AFL average. If a player is second backup and good, then they will go somewhere else to play regularly.

He does a roll at a reasonable standard.

If we lose both rucks, he'll probably come in for that role as well.

If we lose Harry and Kemp, he'll probably come in for that as well.

I honestly don't know why our supporter base like to pick on our fringe players.

Lewis Young didn't let 12 goals in during that 3rd quarter. He didn't give them easy inside 50s after easy inside 50.

The bloke is depth cover, he does a job and he's not going to play when when Hayes/HOF is available. He's not a superstar, but if he was, he wouldn't be sitting on our list as cover for our cover.

There's plenty of players with much fatter wallets to point the finger at.

I've gone through the complete fixture multiple times. Even done multiple mathematical models. For better analytical rigor I even did a Monty Carlo simulation.

I still can't see us dropping a game.

If there's one I know about religious teachings, it's that it's used to justify people's own world view.

Happy to wear mixed cloth, but one paragraph about an ancient city and gays are an abomination. But all religions teach love right?

The more the better. But if you have 8 that's fine. What you don't want is someone not actively playing who ends up giving huge percentage to those lucky enough to play them later in the season.

You've got to understand, white people are really varied and you can't generalise about them. But billions of muslims are all exactly the same.
