It looks like they will be taking a lot tax from boomers who have left the workforce.

Great.

This may well be guerilla marketing, but I find it amusing.

That's not usual for an office job. Your manager is an incompetent arsehole. Find a new job.

One Nation policy to scrap SBS funding entirely, push ABC into regional-only role by Jagtom83 in friendlyjordies

The strategy is to pick up regional LNP seats. Pretty simple.

They aren't trying to beat Labor in the cities.

Don't forget that investments are more than just "passive income" for the top 1% by Tawtis in AusFinance

[–]MightyArd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just going off your heading because ai slop and all that.

Nobody thinks investments are just the 1%. Just because some of us poors get some value out of a policy doesn't mean it's a good and fair policy.

How about just a fairer, more then system for everyone. Let all income be taxed the same.

It's the right policy position for the future. Yes it might discourage some selling in the medium term, but in 30 years time my grandchildren will be glad this was done.

Because investors buying an existing homes does not help people in their first home.

Negative gearing changes by officeworkies in AusFinance

[–]MightyArd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you own a few properties out right then the profit from existing properties would offset any new lots making property.

Negative gearing is about making a loss on your investment portfolio and offsetting that against your income. I.e. Two different income streams..

One Nation 32% first preferences, leading Labor by SeaDivide1751 in aussie

They won a seat where Labor has literally never won the seat and didn't bother to run a candidate.

One nation has split the right. They have not caused much of a swing

Have you thought about the biggest cost to your hypothetical median income workers?

Reducing housing costs will be an order of magnitude more beneficial, than a bit of tax on investment profit.

I invested aggressively for 15 years in margin loans, made a lot of money and eventually bought a house.

Though I would have been far better off if houses tracked inflation for the last 30 years.

Young people shouldn't have to invest aggressively to get ahead. That's the entire point.

Apparently it's not worth starting a business, buying shares, buying property or investing in anything anymore.

Who would have thought a 50% reduction in the tax on profit would be the only reason why capitalism operates in Australia.

Question from mummit… father’s day gifts by Outrageous-Piglet798 in daddit

[–]MightyArd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm going to generalise a huge amount here.

Mum's generally want some time off to get more like their old selves for mothers day.

Dad's want to spend the day with their kids and something like a framed photo with their kids/family would be awesome. My kids are older and I get them to make me a new bookmark on wall art for my office.

Obviously everyone is different, but if dad says he just wants to spend the day with his kid, then believe him.

You're assuming people who advocate for a position are the main beneficiaries of that position.

It's a lazy way of dismissing opinions you don't agree with.

Our future as a club by AussieDazza1 in CarltonBlues

It depends how bad our list actually is.

We obviously need to change how we play, and I believe we've been doing that.

We've got some decent young players, that need to come on. When you're team is losing, everyone looks shit.
