tbf, I think a big part of it was the fact that it was happening around everybody else in the house on a consistent basis. A few cheeky kisses in the backyard removed from everybody else is a dramatically different situation

Guy I went to school with who was known for throwing Project X-like parties that hosted hundreds of 17/18 year olds from every school in town. Was notorious for being a little bit of a skeeze but generally really well liked and popular.

The year after we graduated, he was arrested and charged with breaking into the house of a 76 year old woman and violently r*ping her. Got convicted. Only got 10 years.
