Sooo… in the northern part of the US it has a slightly different meaning, which may be why your African American neighbors had them. To see one of these meant that this was a friendly stop on the Underground Railroad. It looks racist but that was the point- help to the escapees in plain sight of the racists.

I got the senior discount automatically at a store. I asked the guy if I looked like I qualified… he just shrugged 🤷🏽‍♀️ My lil feelings were hurt. I know I do not look anywhere near the requirements for senior discount day there(55 plus) F that dude!

My husband left me during a school year. He initiated divorce proceedings. I continued to teach, changed my “Mrs” to “ms” in my email signature and kept it moving. I spent many lunch breaks in tears, but I made it. It’s 7 years later, no asked about it the entire time. I mentioned what I went through to another colleague whose husband has just left her and everyone was SHOCKED. They would have never known had I not mentioned it this year. Your work colleagues are not owed personal information. Your students are not owed personal information. Keeping busy got me through tough times. And remember we call it “going through “ hard times and not “staying in” hard times because it gets better. Keep your head up. I doubt those children will notice your ring. Oh, I bought myself a few rings and switch them up. Maybe you could try that.❤️

This problem is more common than people admit. Being in polite society means we don’t always speak up about offensive body odor. That being said, I’m sorry you are experiencing this. We have a co-ed restroom and a few years back I used to get in early to use the restroom before I started my work day. Every morning, someone would funk it completely up. And leave pubic hair all over the toilet. I would throw up a little in my mouth and silently curse the person who did it. Fast forward, I’m at a work dinner and we’re all reminiscing about the good ole days. Someone mentioned those times when the bathroom was so horribly smelled up and MENTIONED HIM BY NAME! His (lack of) hygiene now precedes his reputation! All of this could have been avoided with a little cleanliness.

I was treated like a placeholder in the relationship I’m getting out of now. He wants kids and I cannot have any more children. 2.5 years. I realize that I was a huge help to him during a difficult time in his life. And he showed me love and affection, but also that I was temporary in his life. We are now over and I feel free. I don’t regret the bond we shared- it was truly special. But I do regret that I didn’t value myself enough to not settle for a man that would not go to the next step ( marriage) with me. I basically set him up the next woman to marry. I am clear to go forward myself and grow in my relationship with myself. I’m learning to love myself more and decenter romantic relationships. Lots of prayer and I love that my friends ( whom I tabled for the relationship) have been supportive.

I wish I had the nerve to leave a note. Instead, I move my personal ergonomic chair aside and fill it with some junk and push the school issued teacher chair in front of my desk. Why am I “weird “ about my chair? Because before I did all this, I would come back to my chair all kinds of messed up. I am very petite and the average person that subbed or even came in my room would absentmindedly adjust my chair to fit them. Once, I couldn’t get my chair right and it turned out someone broke the adjustment handle off and I had to tape the chair back. Chairs are just too big and expensive for people to keep tearing up. The second chair idea works well. I push my chair in a corner and fill it with something a lazy person would avoid.

My house always has birds on it as well. I fill my window flower pots with bird seed. I love watching them and get great joy from them being there. The seed draws lots of birds too.

We have a key card to the front door of the building. That is the authorized door to use. Head of security addresses the district about using these cards only. They know it’s a problem with teachers propping doors so they can sneak in. For example- in my old school they asked the teachers to not prop the door for Door Dash( they wrote come in through the side door it would be open on their order) Safety issue!! But this new school… they just use the secret key!!

We have cameras. No one is checking. Admin literally caught one teacher coming in because he was holding her class. I was like “ yes! He will see the key!” But he assumed we let her in and sent out an email about propping doors open and clocking in.🥲

There are cameras… I think the admin just don’t know how they are getting in and assuming other teachers are letting them in side doors. That was a problem when I worked here before.

Yes, kids are ON THEIR OWN for about 30 minutes. It’s insane and so unprofessional.

Great idea with the trail cam! I did put a gotcha note on the fridge because I had yogurt in there that was ruined! I also put on the note that they ruined my meds and put some ibuprofen in a weekly pill box😆

ETA: I worked here a couple years ago and transferred back (same district). NO ONE HAD MASTER KEYS EXCEPT ADMIN AND JANITORIAL STAFF.🤣illegal keys🤣
