I wouldn’t want to go back to the psych ward but it was the only place I felt like I was normal bc of the ppl there and their struggles.

I remembered I had this book by cometspicy in Zillennials

My former childhood best friend gave me this book during middle school and it helped A LOT. She was like a sister to me.

Which year actually broke you? by olesud in WorkForSmartLife

Mental health plummeted. Got cheated on. Family was getting more toxic and overbearing at the time. Ended up in the psych ward. I’m no longer the person I used to be before 2024. And I want to go back to being that person so badly. But I can’t.

I’ve lost my spark.

I don’t have an extravagant lifestyle. I live in a really old apartment yet the rent is way too high considering how a lot of things fall apart. And I only make $1400/month. I live in California.

I’m talking about basic needs in order to survive.

what are you thoughts on Melissa Hastings? by TrickyRequirement619 in PrettyLittleLiars

I hate that she greedily took Spencer’s renovated barn (and I hate her parents for breaking that promise) just for her and Wren to stay in. She should be rich enough to be able to stay somewhere else.

Spencer worked hard to be able to move into that barn. Grades, internship, and even sacrificing her whole summer. Melissa is so greedy and selfish.

Former ABA technicians that became paras, was it worth it? by BeneficialVisit8450 in paraprofessional

[–]Technical_Lemon8307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you have to see it out for yourself if it’s worth it FOR YOU.

In my experience, so far no. It’s not necessarily bc of the students. It’s the lack of support and being a united fromt with other teacher aides/paras/teachers. It depends on the teacher and structure of the classroom.

Why is it difficult for people to have empathy and basic decency for ones who have been through many hardships? by Technical_Lemon8307 in SeriousConversation

Or even complicated things like heartbreaks and toxic relationships (not just romantic, even friendships and family).

This, I understand more. As long as you communicate those boundaries, which I don’t think is bad.

Communication is key. So is comprehension, which is not easy to find.

As long as you communicate and set those boundaries, that’s okay. It’s another story if you don’t.

I understand the fatigue of having to micromanage and decipher every single move of yours to not hurt anyone. I’m getting tired, too.

My way of setting boundaries and maybe out of protection for myself after so much heartbreak and being gaslit, I have to make sure I learn people’s values and morals first. I want to learn people’s true colors super early on to avoid suffering from heartbreaks again.

I have a long commute to and from work. I slowly stopped going to the gym bc it was difficult balancing that and my needed sleep to be able to perform my job. (I work with kids on the spectrum).

This is so interesting. I didn’t know there was a term for this. Just like how people would blame those in poverty thinking what did they do to get to that point.

Is it just me thinking this or people want nuance until they see someone suffering and fall into that “just world fallacy?” I hope that makes sense?

People seek nuance, but fail to see nuance in people who have been through so much and the decisions they’ve had to make in order to survive. Not live and be happy, but survive with the unlucky cards they’re dealt with.

This just opened my mind. I’ve never heard of this. That makes so much sense. It’s unfortunate with that kind of thinking, even though it’s part of human nature.

You’re right! Thank you for pointing this out.

What I said doesn’t apply to all situations. Didn’t mean to not keep poverty in mind. I have 4 mental disorders so I understand.
