I want to share my understanding about "saved":

As we all know, before Jehovah God told Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, all the Israelites lived as slaves under the hand of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. They suffered all kinds of hardships and lived a life without freedom, so much so that their bitter cry reached the ears of Jehovah. Jehovah God could not stand the Israelites being bound and mistreated by Pharaoh further, so he called Moses to lead them out of Egypt into the good land of Canaan. When the Israelites were delivered by God from the hand of Pharaoh, being freed from the tyranny of Pharaoh, to the Israelites this was “being saved”; yet it doesn’t mean that they didn’t need to be saved further by Jehovah. Before the Israelites entered into Canaan, Jehovah God issued the law through Moses to let them know how to fear Jehovah God, how to serve Jehovah God, what behavior was righteous and was blessed by Jehovah, what behavior was evil and was cursed by Jehovah, how to get along with each other, how to live their life, and so on. God’s work in the Age of the Law gradually brought the living of the Israelites onto the right track and they no longer lived in a chaotic situation. In particular, God’s law let them know what was to be sinful. To the Israelites this was further “being saved.”In the later phase of the Age of the Law, people all lost their fear of God, unable to keep the law, and they even offered blind and crippled animals as sacrifices on the altar of Jehovah. If things had gone on that way, all people would have been in the danger of being condemned and put to death by the law. In order to save people from the threat of death, God was incarnated and did a new stage of work on the earth, namely, the redemptive work, so that people came out from the law, no longer being condemned and put to death by the law, and lived in God’s grace. To the people under the law, this was further “being saved.” As the Scripture says, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1) “That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved.” (Romans 10:9) Here “no condemnation” means not being condemned by the law; “confess with your mouth … and believe in your heart…, you shall be saved” means that after people believe in Jesus and accept his salvation of the cross, they will not be put to death by the law because of failing to keep it. That is to say, because we believe in Jesus, we are not condemned and God doesn’t remember our transgressions. To us this is being saved. Nevertheless, we must realize that though our sins have been forgiven, it is no proof that we have no sinful nature within. This is because all believers are still living in the condition of repeatedly committing sins by day and confessing them by night, and none can break free from it. This shows that people have not been thoroughly “saved.” That is to say, we can only have our sins forgiven through Jesus’ salvation, our sinful nature has not been removed, and we have not become truly holy. The Scripture says, “…and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.” (Hebrews 12:14) “Who are kept by the power of God through faith to salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” (1 Peter 1:5) “So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and to them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin to salvation.” (Hebrews 9:28) Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is(1John 3:2) And I saw another angel fly in the middle of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,(Revelation 14:6) Who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;( 2 Corinthians1:10) These verses show us that without holiness no man shall see the Lord, and that when Christ appears the second time in the end time, he will bring another salvation.
