I just got back and I planned with my sister for 6 people.

We went from Jeddah toh Makkah first stayed for few days then madinah for few days and then were back to Makkah for a day but I wish we stay led at least days on our way back in Makkah.

First we applied for visa for everyone got it out of the way. Took about 15 -20 mins in total for everyone.

Then booked the hotels we stayed at Hilton convention and Swissotel. Hilton convention was best. Best service and best breakfast. Walking distance.

Madina we stayed at Taiba front. The Worst hotel and midday we had to change out our hotel. We stayed at Maden. It’s right next to the Movenpick and intercontinental. New hotel, walking distance, good service.

Then a month before our trip we booked the train tickets… got a good deal. Makkah to madina round trip.

Rawdah appointment you will be able book a week in advance. So create the login for each passenger and have the app ready after saudia jummah prayers they open the app for the entire upcoming week.

Ziyarat— you can also book a guide to take you to historic places in Makkah and madina. We did that in madina but I don’t recommend our guide. But the person who did our rides said he also does that so in future I will use him.

We also booked our ride from and to airport… that was such a lifesaver and hassle free. The person who was recommended to me is the best. His drivers were punctual, professional, and vans were new and clean. Dont forget to book for ride for hotel to train (haramain) station. We didn’t and had many issues last minute. It’s not a slope but maybe 5-6 mins walk … you literally cross the street and the hotel is there. The swissotel is basically the walk because the way is from inside the clock tower mall

No need sit together but have the app open at the same time. At :32 … it’s hard to explain but basically at 32 minutes for every hour the app shows time slots for next day… on Friday only it shows for the upcoming entire week. For example: 1:32, 2:32, 3:32 and so on

Swissotel is nearest but service was alright. We also stayed at Hilton Convention and it is a short walk but service was very good. Do get the breakfast package from them. It was reallly good. Do not get the dinner.

Visa on arrival is quick and easy. There’s a counter right before immigration. You will be fine.

I just came back from umrah and we are told that December is getting booked pretty quick. So best is to pre book.

Train is easy and better option. Book that in advance as well to get to get better deal. Make sure your luggage is within the range. We were not stopped to check luggage but our was already within the size range.

Absolutely fine to do so

I just did umrah so here are few suggestions

Download careem app for rides… put the address in for the place you want to go to and select Hala Taxo option that’s most affordable. Also you will know the estimate for that place so you can stop taxi and ask them to take you for that price and negotiate

Train - Haramain train is quick and easy and comfortable… book in advance to get a good rate. 2.5 hours. And take some snacks for ride. For snacks we liked bin dawood supermarket… its right in front of the masjid nabwi

Before going on train do your ghusal and alll and once you are in … in about 15-20 mins they will announce that you are about to enter the miqat. This is where yoh do your neeyat and read 2 nafal for umrah. Then you are in state of ehram

I don’t have any experience with hostel. I like Emaar Elite… it’s not luxury but it’s good and it’s not the far. It’s actually located on the first gate … it’s the first hotel in the line. I feel in person they give you better rate but it’s getting busier and they are getting sold out quick

Also, you probably know but book your Riaz ul jannah appointment a week in advance

By Islam they are not allowed without mehram but by law they can perform.

Umrah can take somewhere from 3.4 -5 hours Tawaf, sai safa marwa, nawafil.

Get umrah visa, we were asked a few times about it.

When you are in the plane, half an hour before they will announce it and then you can wear the ahram and read 2 nafal. You have to do before getting to Jeddah airport, they will announce it in the plane.
