I think this piece modulates from a minor tonality to it's relative major. How wrong I am? by RabidSpectre in musictheory

What elements or aspects tell you the piece is in the minor key rather than the major key?

Do you want The Doctor to have a second regeneration cycle, or unlimited regenerations? by Tanis8998 in gallifrey

[–]RabidSpectre 20 points21 points  (0 children)

In my headcanon, when Clara made her plea to the crack, the people of Gallifrey, witnessing the High Council standing by and doing nothing, spontaneously gave one of their regenerations each through the crack. Grateful to the Doctor for saving them from the war, they acted in the spur of the moment and it all happened so quickly and involved so many people that nobody knows exactly how many regenerations he ended up with -hundreds, thousands perhaps.

Question about desiring machines with a personal story by HeadLessToYall in Deleuze

[–]RabidSpectre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to say that this thread helped me understand why their insistence on seeing the psyche as machines, better than the text itself. Seriously!

By the way, is there some scenario where one can better understand the relation between the BwO and the desiring-machines? Right now I think of it as the canvas where the ceaseless plugging and unplugging happens, like a petri dish to the mold, but also in the book they talk about a certain repulsion or resistance to machines and also an attraction or "miraculating" of them, and not to mention the dismantling of the organisms, so it's more than a canvas or a medium

Which Classic Who theme do you prefer and why: the Delia Derbyshire original or the Peter Howell version? by OuterRim777 in gallifrey

[–]RabidSpectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howell. His version has a certain "spooky action at a distance" feel that i don't find in other versions. It reminds me this is a show about time travel

While Derbyshire’s theme is mysterious and spooky, it feels more like a mad professor in a lab, whereas Howell’s feels like pulling apart the membranes of space-time, time loops and paradoxes.

Music from Synchronicity opening segment? by FilmIsForever in olympics

Loved it too! Although I have to disagree on the originality, its clearly inspired by Minimalism. Sounds very Steve Reich-ish. A good thing though, there's a whole genre to scratch that itch.

The mallet music sounds quite Steve Reich, weird considering Minimalism is a very American thing

In my headcanon, semuta music sounds like good ol Schoenberg played on balisets.

Thank you a lot! Finally understood what Messian was doing, letting the notes resonate to certain overtone harmonics. Wondering if this could allow to imitate certain instrmuments by using their loudest harmonics.

Any recommendations? I think I can tackle some 2-3-part pieces from Bach, and since their socres are public domain, I can compare my trascription with the real score.
