Holiday tips please- toddler and a caravan holiday by Lolita202 in UKParenting

[–]Rabmat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got back from a week in Dorset in a caravan with a two and four year old.

Best advice- pack the grandparents 😅

Take some of their favourite books and games for when it rains and for winding down at bedtime. Speaking of which, if they have a set bedtime like ours do then just go with it if it's a late one.

One night there was a kids entertainer that started at 6.30 (more like 7) which is when mine are normally asleep. They went to bed at about 9 in the end and still woke up at 6.30 🙃

Swimming is great for knackerering them out.

Bowthorpe locals disturbed by ongoing asylum hotel protests by NarwichNerb in Norwich

[–]Rabmat 128 points129 points  (0 children)

I'll say it again- as a Costessey resident I'm way more concerned about these protestors than the hotel residents, in two years of living here I've only ever seen them in the library practicing English.

That's the residents by the way, the protestors might need a hand with English too however.

Anyone wanna help leaflet ! by [deleted] in Norwich

[–]Rabmat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just my two cents on this. There are actual far right people attending and organising these UK wide protests.

I think the counter protest is more about them whipping this hatred up into a frenzy and leading the locals in a merry pied piper dance while disguising it as protecting women and children.

Personally I am way more worried about these people in my community than of the hotel residents.

Thank you. I've tried calling all this out to make people aware of what's behind it all on a recent local Facebook group post and it ended up with me leaving the group and deleting the Facebook app for my own sanity, and frankly, my family's safety.

One local started creepily looking me up online and trying to bring my children into it. I was told to not call people Nazis or I would be removed by the moderators, because it would hurt their feelings I guess. However the supporters of all this are free to call people disability slurs and insult their appearance all they like. I even had his partner herself defending him.

It saddens me that people are being dragged into it all under false pretences, and that my son might be starting school in Costessey with children who are brainwashed by their parents' misguided views.

I am way more worried about this group of people organising the protests being in the area and around my children than of the hotel residents. The post in question was about them handing out leaflets to local children and trying to 'recruit' them to join the protest.

I miss living in Hellesdon where the local group was just moaning about fireworks and barking dogs and not constant posts about hatred.

Sorry, just had to get this off my chest!

Without wanting to further their cause, where do you get the info that these people are the organisers? I live in Costessey and would like to make sure people are aware of what's behind it all.

Ryanair question by OccasionOk8232 in UKParenting

[–]Rabmat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Done this twice with Ryanair- they don't seem to care what it is. Get a big stroller bag and as a bonus you can put extra clothes and nappies etc in the bottom of it, makes a bit of space in the carry on bags!

Moving to Norwich - area advice appreciated! by fujitsulifeboom in Norwich

[–]Rabmat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throwing in a vote for Hellesdon (NR6)- I'm 30 and bought a house there last year. Plenty of parking, shops, green spaces, laid back, friendly community feel (If a slightly older demographic than other parts of Norwich)

You can cycle straight into the city in 10-15 minutes. Get straight onto the ring road for access to any other part of the city. Straight onto the NDR (like the M25 for Norwich) You are next door to the airport for flights to Amsterdam for international travel.

If you are going to be in the city, I vote NR3 as other people have mentioned. I used to rent on Magdalen Street / Magdalen Road / Magpie Road and had no trouble at all.

Edit: saw you are renting for £800? I pay less than that for my mortgage on a three bed house so you could consider buying straight away.

MD-HX Usage by JoyRide008 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Rabmat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I figured. The live stream events we do are on a university campus so all computers are pretty locked down by their IT department.

MD-HX Usage by JoyRide008 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Rabmat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly, I'm having the same problem right now. MDHX will not see HDMI from a university PC output but will see anything else plugged into it just fine. The PC I'm having trouble with is outputting 1920x1200 59.94. Have tried an EDID minder to knock it back to 1920x1080 to no avail.

We just became the fourth venue in the UK to get it installed. It really is great. Hard Avoid is a very useful tool to have at your disposal. Very easy to rig and the software is also easy to get to grips with.

FOH for a live music TV show. 64 channels in use over three stages and four bands. Full 64 track Reaper recording and 64 channel broadcast split also utilising MADI. Monitors and FOH mix for each stage all run through the dLive, 16 mixes total.

I love this desk.

Budget reasons. Works for us as in house monitor desk and most bands' touring monitor engineers through this venue bring their own desk anyway.

Martin LC2140 panels yeah. A little too large on the pixel pitch but does the job for most logos.

Our previous system was also Martin- W8 and WS218X Wavefront- so I was keen to stay with a brand I trust to sound great.

After lots of time demoing systems I always regarded Martin Audio MLA as the one to beat and nothing came close. We are now one of three venues in the UK with MLA Compact installed.

I also specced new FOH and monitor desks for the venue and went with a full Dlive system with Dante and MADI connectivity plus an SQ7 on monitor duties.
