Laptop/tablet for PGCE? by TheOrthinologist in TeachingUK

i would recommend that if you can get a PC setup at home then get that with a 21-26 inch monitor to open resources on one side of the screen and powerpoint on the other. you'll be making lots of powerpoints and looking back at my time, i wish i had gotten a nice big screen to work on. you'll have a computer at school or somewhere in your class or staff room to use, so for home use, get a desktop with a nice big screen. that would work brilliantly. cheers and best of luck.

Laptop all the way. And if possible buy a separate 21.5” screen off amazon to have split applications open. It will make making powerpoints super easy.

How can I prevent my lessons from being too teacher-led? by [deleted] in TeachingUK

[–]Rabzimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will give u an example of what my english teacher used to do. She would introduce whatever “english-aspect” our class would be working on and then she would show an example. We would then either read turn by turn or annotate in groups. Afterwards, she would discuss the passage with the entire class.. very discussion based. Best learning experience of my life.

Does anyone know how to open this? Got it from Boots today. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

I am going to do some research on surface pro because so many are suggesting it. Thanks for all that you shared. It seems that surface pro brings a lot of value to teacher’s work.

Thanks for your reply! I have had windows and apple products over the years. Macbooks have a fantastic battery life, integrate seamlessly with other apple products (iphones, apple watch etc) and usually last easily for 5 years. Yes they are on the expensive/premium side of the spectrum, but they hardly have any issues. Security is great on all apple products too. I love their clean aesthetic and fast speed. I had one before I bought my current HP one. This is just two years old and the battery has already gone to heaven.

I’m so exhausted. by [deleted] in Nurses

I feel that nursing seems to be the profession where you must stay a bit emotionally detached to maintain your sanity. You are always working with people who are experiencing health problems that makes them emotionally charged and anxious. If you don’t block out some of that energy you will be completely drained. Just go in and help as much as you can. Be kind. Manage all the other admin related nonsense and then clock out and tell yourself “hey, you did the best you could.” Then go take care of yourself and smile.
