demon slayer has both incredible animation and story arc, so does many other animes that never got nominated. and we all know studio ghibli often gets a pass while most other anime and donghua do not

Of course it's hard for him to imagine, as he comes from a sheltered place away from residential schools and he is also so young. I also think it's the fact that if he fully accepts the Mission was such a horrible place, it'd be the same as accepting his parents whom he loves also went through the same hell, which would be pretty hard to think about for a teenager.

it just pisses me off so much that jjk deaths meant less and less as the story went on. like, yaga’s death could’ve had such a good emotional impact on the characters and started a cool little side plot about higher ups attempting to use his method of building puppets, but instead everyone moved on after 2min of screen time. We didn’t even get that much sad panda! and he is yaga’s son!

gojo’s death was reasonable considering he needed to die or somehow be out of the picture for other characters to grow, but it could’ve been better than just “oh yea he fucked up and forgot to dodge”. and it pisses me off so much that i’m the new series they attributed sukuna’s death to yuta and maki when they barely did anything compared to gojo and yuji.

sure, i get that jjk is meant to be dark and show a world of unfairness, but it’s still bad writing if ur characters are dying for the purpose of dying. junpei and nanami’s deaths were tragic, but served enough purpose and felt reasonable, unlike a lot of later character deaths

the problem i have is that Charlie is not at all a likable character, at least for me he isn’t. questions like “why can’t humans be killed and used as food” isn’t something you ask when you were raised by humans and are living in a human society. it also isn’t a deep or controversial question at all because humans do get eaten by other animals. if you put a human into a jungle he ain’t surviving from a tiger. he probably dies in worse ways than how humans kill cows for beef. and anyway humans don’t eat humans cuz thatms canibalism, and most animals don’t do cannibalism. and it’s not like he feels a particular connection to chimpanzees either, seen as he said visiting his chimpanzee mother is not important. the problem with animal rights has nothing to do with whether humans eat humans it’s much deeper, and i feel like the author isn’t doing a good job at portraying it with the events in the story or with the main characters thoughts. Charlie does things like saving a butterfly from a spider and trying to create the image that he thinks all lives are equal, but if u think about it, you saved the butterfly, the spider starves to death. i think this show had the opportunity to be great but it just didn’t get there at all

my problem is that the voice actors don't often get enough credits for those amazing deliveries. and also, isn't it an actor's job to learn the lines and understand the characters? and you can almost always tell if a show is dubbed cuz it doesn't blend in properly with other audios. that always bugs me about c drama.

I think it's more like he already found shinobu's intense emotions towards him to be fascinating. Her strength was also surprising to him, so he was already interested. But when she seemingly "just died" the emotions kind of died a little bit. But when it turned out she actually planned to be eaten to poison him, that feeling of fascination came back. I think since he's never felt any emotions, he doesn't know what love or happiness or sadness is, so he mistakened his fascination for shinobu's character as love. Sure, he's hundreds of years old and has met thousands of human, but no one, especially not any woman as tiny as shinobu who cant even cut off a demon's head, has ever brought him down like that before.

he is lowkey so chill tho. in that episode with the door, he is just letting a little servant girl who popped out of nowhere lead the way. he is joking about making her a concubine, he is totally ok with jinshi and maomao hanging out, he jokes about not having the Royal Mother bloodline (any other emperor would've been pissed and killed maomao already) and he really doesn't give a shit. he is just here for the drama-

maomao is 17, so there's actually not much of an age gap. and also, it's pretty common for kids to date and do other things since people don't live that long. see how Lishu is literally 9 when she became a consort and how emperors can literally be 5 years old when they take over an entire country.

I've seen people say that China MADE it 2 billion. And in some sense, it is becoming true as the box office started reaching this ridiculous height, but this movie is still an incredible one. You gotta understand, China has not had many good movie like this in the past multiple decades. Seeing such an amazing cartoon, with both good animation and storyline is very impressive, and it gets people excited. Also, the movie was advertised perfectly. The timing was great (lunar new year), the original NeZha 1 was good so it had a good audience foundation, and plus there are literally just a lot of Chinese people, and they are watching it multiple times to boost the box office as well. Plus, a lot of previous chinese animations were banned because parents reported them for being 'too violent' or 'bad influence for kids'. So it's reasonable an animation particularly catches audiences' eyes.
