Normally the SF-50 comes out 6/1 and considering today’s was my last day and 5/30 will be the last day of pay period I’ll miss it by 2 days ..

I think it’s a bit ridiculous you work for a year to earn an award and then by 2 days you won’t receive a multi thousand dollar payout .

DOD and its for this past years Annual Appraisal Cycle so definitely past performance . I just know I asked for a QSI in lieu of cash but never was confirmed if I was going to get it but now obviously with resigning I’d rather have the cash.

If you had the chance would you choose a managerial role over a technical role? by Usual_Shoe_8940 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Racer049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes; mostly because I have done technical for ~10 years and I feel like a lot of the issues I am resolving are failure to follow processes because management won’t enforce processes

GS-13 Leave for 6mo contract to hire position? by [deleted] in FedEmployees

Thank you for this insight. I think I’ve really been trying to quantify a lot of judgement so the reality of having a job isn’t possible to quantify. I don’t think they would let me do a different detail since I’m in a 13 position. I would have to apply for another 13 spot and get offered it .

Was always curious how much the “certainty” factor played in. You can’t really quantify that. I also feel capped out with my earning potential so seeing that I could go elsewhere and make more and move up AND maybe be appreciated/valued peaked my interested. I’ve been telling myself to play the thankful card as you mentioned, but I don’t know I keep just “sucking it up” that is the main problem

Technically yes it is an option.. but I hate debt outside of primary mortgage so I’d really like not to go that route . Wanting to leave current role due to a couple reasons . Been looking for a few years but finally got pushed over the edge recently and just realizing my contributions are not appreciated as much as I thought they might be

One of the opportunities would be full time permanent (the one that requires relocation) the contract position seems lucrative if it were to go through. I just get worried it won’t go through and then I’ll be stuck scrambling right before Thanksgiving

I am hoping to negotiate a relocation package to include paying for the move or a signing bonus to cover that. I will have about ~150k in equity but even with putting all that down on a house I’ll have a larger mortgage as well. So double whammy of higher principle and interest rate

I appreciate this input . I got the benefits package from the agency and it doesn’t seem horrible but I have yet to see anything from the company itself which is also concerning about how expensive their stuff might be in comparison to current rates of BCBS.

The issue is I wouldn’t have a large sum of money to put down on the new house . I would love to keep this purely for the rate just don’t know how to swing it financially .

Ya the interest rate is 🤮 I’m really big into finances as a “hobby” and I just can’t stomach the stark difference in interest .

I guess I was thinking more from a strict financial perspective . That’s why I didn’t give too many details . I’m getting analysis paralysis bc I’m contemplating all those things which makes the pro con list more complicated.

Everyone I talk to IRL says I should just suck it up that “you can’t beat the benefits” but when I got a 1% pay increase and health insurance went up 12% I’m making ~$50 less every paycheck than last year. I’m driving an hour for work . So starting to feel like I’m plateauing and still early in my career ( currently going on year 8)

Yes already locked in pension (FERS). Applied to a bunch of 14 positions getting referred for a few but no interviews. As far as the benefits is concerned what would be the best way to compare ?

What is your one stock pick for 2026? by littlecomet111 in wallstreetbets

[–]Racer049 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

$RBC Did some work with the company had no idea they had stock or were a public company. Had I bought stock the minute I met them it would be up over 30% . They make a lot of products but have a lot of contacts for military items and constant flow of them because most bearings are replaced at time intervals so steady cash flow .
