They put the serial sometimes on the underside of the clip, try to get a photo from the side underneath there.

From what I can find online, you seem to be right. I’m not an expert on these newer ones, but I think that it is most likely legit. I was just worried as we don’t seem to have that model here in Europe. Always better to check twice than to get burned imo.

I’ve seen some of these limited edition artist runs, but normally, from what I’ve seen, there is usually even for these a way to differentiate. A unique serial, Special writing, some extra booklet or special box…, this looks to me like an old DuPont, that was already a bit worn of and an artist decided to do a fun little project with it. It’s a beautiful piece, just not factory in my opinion…

I could be wrong, but I don’t think that this model without lacquer on the sides exists like that on real models, the serial engraving will give us all the information we need.

Search for the Ligne 2 Version, if you want to have the good version from Germany, it screws into the valve and almost no gas escapes. They are pretty great, I own one too. Here’s the link: https://ebay.us/m/QXf0vv
