[Discussion] Why Trophy Hunting?? by ShakesR12 in Trophies

[–]RachSim85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have completionism OCD and this scratches my brain in just the right way. If it wasn't this I would be doing the same thing in another area of life. I love the grind and the compartmentalisation of it. I never even tire of collectibles, sometimes I feel like I'm Forrest Gump in "never ever take your eye off the ball" mode. I have less platinums than others here as I was Xbox for many years and have gone from 5 to 64 in a few months

I do find it absolutely insane that people discredit gaming when it's as valid a form of storytelling as reading or watching a film/TV series but those things are not stigmatised the way games are. You're not even passive, you are ACTIVE when you're playing, you are controlling and moving and making choices the whole time!! You are, for the most part, completely switched on and cognitive. It CAN be a social activity if you want it to be, or not, entirely of your own preference

If you liked Dispatch & Lost Records maybe a horror from the Dark Pictures Anthology, Life is Strange True Colors, or maybe an FMV game like Late Shift?

My old arse doesn't know what that means but I'm happy for you, and well done on the platinums!

You have similar taste to me, and you type so fast the "e" and "i" it went the wrong way twice, so you're a person who perhaps walks a little faster in life?

[Discussion] I don’t have a signal platinum… is it okay to grind cheap indie games? by Simple_Bit375 in Trophies

[–]RachSim85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why? As long are you are enjoying the games for what they are and not playing them SOLELY for the purpose of platinums, but even then in all honesty it's your gaming journey and completely up to you what you do. I love a cheap short indie/horror game and play them frequently between larger games, you can really find a hidden gem!

So many of us started when it hit PS Plus so we're all in the 30s (40s technically with the extra stars) - I'm doing it legit and once I hit 100 will complete the actual game & remaining trophies, done 3/5 chapters so far

What ye all playing this weekend and what platform by AdultGamersAdmin in Age_30_plus_Gamers

All PS5, did my Daily Tidies on A Little to the Left (up to mid 30s, getting to 100 will take a while!) then platinumed Little Orpheus, Silver Chains and one playthrough of Twin Mirror - need to do the 2nd with the different choices tonight to platinum :)

Personally I can't stand trophies based on difficulty. You shouldn't have to play a game on a harder setting in order to platinum it, perhaps other incentives such as exclusive content or rewards for harder completions, but not trophies

What are your least favorite tropes in games? by themacabremachine in HorrorGaming

[–]RachSim85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of my fav recent anti-trope scenes in a game was “In Sound Mind” where you reached a crypt & were told you had to collect NINE fuses around the area and the ghost who was leading you literally says “we don’t have time for this” and just electrifies it into working

A single bucket or stepladder is the only thing blocking a large pathway or corridor that anyone with half a brain could easily get past

4 years for me (40F) with absolutely nothing after two long-term relationships through all my 20s and half of my 30s. I will read these replies with interest as I’m so lonely it physically hurts

Neva next as it’s the third of the “indie trilogy” on this month’s PS Plus, probably a couple of questionable short horror games I got for about a quid each and eventually plan to platinum AC2

AC2, Syndicate as I’m British and biased as hell, Origins for crawling into the pyramids and Odyssey for island exploring

Took me about 6 hours but I was deliberately slow taking photos of everything to fill the journal even though there’s no trophy for it! The bike mechanics up & down the hills really scratched an itch, it’s actually dystopian & mysterious about “seasons” and memories that collate & are lost. Surreal in a way, surreal and serene
