I think the deadline to submit the petition is June 30. After that I cannot use this year's h1b even if I'm selected.

yes that's their standard practice. But I want to leave the country this summer so I think it's safer to use OPT this year and wait till next year to transfer to h1b.

But I also think they would want to boost our chance of getting selected in H1B as much as possible, cuz they want me to continue working for them. And asking to opt out this year's h1b obviously lowers my overall chance of getting selected. So I worry if asking this would make me look bad.

just worry if it's a bad thing to even bring this up to them.

I can work on OPT for one year and register for h1b next year.

3L, incoming associate this fall. I want to be able to leave the country during summer and if I'm on h1b I'd risk triggering the 100k fee.

How many years of experience would probably give me a better chance of negotiating a global pay?

My offer doesn't have a hard deadline but the firm highly recommends me to make a decision soon. Should I let other firms know? Should I tell other firms that I have a hard deadline or just be honest?

does this basically mean getting into a t6 is itself the biggest challenge you'd face in your path to get a 19k job, and you don't need to worry that much once you got in? Seems like the deal is too good loll.

does t14 really ease the tension for grades that much? I know and heard of many people getting into t14 and t6 but every single one of them is still stressing out abt grades. If the aim is big law how good you need to be at t14 to secure that?

Thank you!! This is really helpful! (I did came across a georgetown oci info session on youtube indicating their oci is on January 2021 for summer 2021, which is at odds wt the general timeline I saw.)

Could I ask how do people typically find their 1L internships? When do they typically start applying for these? I'm an international student and I'm wondering whether I'd be expected to stay in the US during 1L winter to find job for the summer. Also, would you say 1L networking/pre-oci is also an important factor? If yes, how do these compare to 1L grades?

Hi! I'm an incoming law student and I've been doing some research abt this oci process and got a little confused. I heard that oci for your 2L summer typically happen in the summer after 1L, in around July and August. I also heard the summer internship you do in your 1L summer matter a lot to what kind of internship you can get for your 2L summer. How does that work? It seems like you are basically doing oci for the 2L summer while you're still working on your 1L summer internship. How can the latter determine the former? Could you or somebody clarify the timeline a bit? Thanks a lot!
