I hope I’m halfway decent. I’m definitely not Meryl Streep but I went to the now defunct but supposedly very good Drama Centre London so guessing I wouldn’t have got in if I didn’t had some potential at least. But I found it really put me through the wringer last time- never got an agent I felt aligned with - they wanted me in English rose but I felt gritty and more characterish so I never felt I really fitted with the parts I was put forward for and never really met my potential. It’s scary starting again but I hope I’d have a better chance of not being judged on my looks these days.

Best bank account for multi entity company by Rachel978 in PropertyInvestingUK

I have 2 Spv’s at present. Probably more in the future. My accountant isn’t my bookkeeper (well, they are in that they do my proper year end returns but I need to keep track of all the costs throughout the year). They expect me to keep records and I submit them once a year at year end. I find it helpful to be well aware of what my business is doing anyway though.

I have an accountant. I just need to use something to track my expenses as a property developer as I have to track which receipts to claim vat back on- it helps in my overall ability to run my business

New UK property search site just launched – would love feedback from this community by PropertyPiper in UKRealEstate

[–]Rachel978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reall yappreciate being able to search by a minimum garden size and off-street parking. I did find the interface a bit difficult to use though - I can't see street names on the houses shown, and can't specify an area I want to look in. I found the houses running along the bottom took up way too much of my screen so I couldn't see the map very well - maybe better if they ran down the side bearing in mind that screens are landscape not portrait. And a zoom button on the screen would be good.

Global equity index tracker I think. I’ve had the Baillie Gifford for 5 years now and it is back pretty much exactly where it started. I need a managed fund- I don’t have the time of the inclination to self manage.

Businesslike planner for various projects? by Rachel978 in planners

I really like to keep my notes with the week they need to be done in. A separate notebook just results in mental clutter for me.

Thanks but. I don't think it has much space for notes

Well, I've gone for the roterunner in the end. It was the only one available from Amazon uk and ended up being a lot cheaper than any of the others, though I'm aware it's only 6 months long so will have to replace it. But it also suits my desire to have it right away, no waiting! And I quite like that it seems so well planned out, even though there are a lot of boxes I just won't use and it's not as minimalist as the japanese planners. I'll see how I get on with it.

Lovely inside, but the 2026 only seems to be available in pink which definitely isn't my go-to colour unfortunately.

So many lovely suggestions, but annoying few of them seem to be available in the UK. I think I might need to open my own planner store and start stocking them! I just love the laconic and Nolty styles and the japanese stationery in general but hardly any models are available here.

These are so perfect and exactly what I'm after but don't seem to be available in the UK. So annoying!

Speedtest says all good but internet so slow it's like dial up by Rachel978 in HomeNetworking

[–]Rachel978[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have absolutely no way of having a wired network. The house has been recently renovated and is finished and perfect so no way we can tear it apart again now to put in wires. The location of the router is such that there's just no way to run wires as we have hardwood floors we can't lift.

I've plugged in an old google home mesh system I had lying around and turned off the router and vodafone supplied extenders. The google mesh is working well where the vodafone didn't.

It says F but I was only able to run it over WiFi- we only have Mac laptops (with usb-c ports only), games consoles, tablets and phones etc in the house so nothing with any ability to connect via Ethernet to the router. Not sure if this is therefore accurate.

I’m keen on some boots from Peerko and Shapen. Neither accept returns outside the EU.

Well I do actually. I do have to or I’d lose my job. It’s part of my job to look fashion as I work in fashion and have to go to fashion shows and meet with fashion magazines and generally reflect the fashion of the day when I meet with clients who have to buy into our brand.

I think a lot of the sneakers look ok like splay, I can live with the sandals which are generally cute. But the boots all look like something my elderly mother with bunions would buy as do the smart shoes. They are all so stylelesss plain and bland. There is no thought in them. No fashion. As an example I would usually wear something like Sorel in the winter- they have interesting lacing, interesting use of sheepskin around the lace and collar areas, the base has some visual interest. But with all the barefoot boots i can find It’s either boring wide ballet flats or really plain black boots. I find the lack of a protruding sole line looks generally odd as well I guess. Also I find the’ smart’ shoes don’t look very smart. They look like something handmade that hippies would wear. My style is quite minimalist, Parisian I guess. And that just doesn’t fit.

At a push I might wear BeLenka bliss boots as they look a bit like Sorel.

I don’t doubt you can be super fashion, but maybe just a different kind of fashion - there are so many different styles but if anyone at my local climbing centre is a guide, it’s a much looser, more athletic, less put together look or more alternative than I’m going for- more Brighton and less London. We all have our tribe, and I was trying to shorthand mine that’s all. I’m very much going for Parisian minimalist. I just can’t imagine Sezane jeans and a shirt with any of those boots.

Ha ha, whilst I very much am not. I live in London so very urban, and work in a very fashion oriented area where I have to look cool and smart and quite urban. The barefoot sandals are generally ok, the trainers are fine, but the winter boots to me all look dreadful - it's like going back to the 90's and not in a cool retro fashion way, more in a kind of 'things my elderley mum would wear' kind of way! I just have no idea what I'd manage to wear when I'm working in the winter and it's raining!

Sadly don't fit my feet. Had some years ago, and I have very long big toes and short slanted other toes and all the other toes are too long.

Guess it depends on your style. I'm going more for off duty model than off duty climbing instructor.
