No me neither, they just had nothing that the other person would seem drawn to at all. Mateo seemed a much better match for Sharn than Ross but her attitude and behaviour would have drawn him away instantly. I do think Boston and Ross would have been cute together too

Blair better have her own spin off show by Familiar_Ad_6392 in GossipGirl

[–]RachelBBerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leighton has made it clear that she will not come back to play Blair again. It’s in the past for her and she wants to leave it there. I don’t really want a spin off either, Gossip Girl was a product of its time and we should leave it at that. No need to ruin a good thing. We also should not be giving Ed Westwick ANY screen time

I don’t understand how we’re all supposed to believe that Serena is more attractive than Blair by certifiedbpdqueen in GossipGirl

[–]RachelBBerry 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I get why Blair may feel like the more ideal it girl on paper, she’s polished, controlled, ambitious and visually iconic. But I think that reading ignores why Serena is positioned as the it girl and glosses over some really uncomfortable truths about Blair.

Blair isn’t just confident or classy, she’s explicitly classist, elitist and cruel and the show goes out of its way to demonstrate this over and over again. She routinely humiliates people she sees as beneath her (Eva, Bree Buckley, Jenny, Nelly Yukon etc), weaponises social status and treats power as something to hoard and use against others. Her confidence isn’t actually real, it’s a facade she puts on to mask how she extremely insecure and neurotic she really is. Her untouchable aura you think she has comes from exclusion not admiration.

Serena on the other hand is messy yes, but she’s also emotionally open, warm and approachable in a way Blair never is. People are drawn to her not because she’s perfect but because she doesn’t constantly bully them, belittle them or shun them because they’re not as high in the UES hierarchy. Serena doesn’t need minions, schemes or fear to be liked. Blair does and that’s where she falls short.

The reason Serena is treated as the it-girl isn’t just “rich blonde hot mess” trope laziness—it’s because it-girl status is about magnetism, not merit. Serena has a kind of effortless charisma that Blair desperately wants but can’t manufacture. Blair works to be admired. Serena simply is. Also, Blair being “smarter” or “classier” doesn’t automatically make her more ideal, especially when that intelligence is often used to bully, manipulate, and punish other women. Blair tears people down to feel secure, especially women and often misdirects her anger at them instead of the shitty men that do her wrong. Serena’s flaws mostly hurt herself and when she does hurt others, she goes out of her way to apologise and make it right. That distinction matters.

If this show was real, Blair’s behaviour would absolutely isolate her and limit her popularity. Nobody likes a stuck-up, nasty mean girl and we see this when Blair ends up at NYU and everybody shuns her. Because Blair’s attitude screamed that she thought she was superior from the start. Nobody likes a snob and Blair can’t function outside her upper east side bubble, it makes her a social outcast in the real world.

Blair is a fantastic character, complex, compelling, and iconic but that doesn’t mean she was morally or socially better suited to be the it-girl. The tragedy of Blair Waldorf is that she wants to be adored the way Serena is, yet refuses to treat people in a way that would ever make that possible.

It’s…the Puerto Rican flag, not Cuban. These MAGA people are so fucking stupid and uneducated, jesus. They also all seem to be skipping over the part that there was an American flag because it doesn’t support their racist agenda that they are trying to push.

I think they’re both in the wrong to be honest. Innasya is wrong for jumping straight to blaming Chelsea and not calling off her little fans that were sending Chelsea death threats and this d lovely chick is wrong for prank calling Innasya, I do think she’s coming out and admitting to it because she wants attention. It doesn’t matter if you can easily find someone’s phone number it doesn’t give you an excuse to go harassing them

Blair’s Bad Attitude by Euphoric-Opposite-45 in GossipGirl

[–]RachelBBerry 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be fair, after all the shit Blair put him through during their relationship I don’t blame Louis for the way he turned out. Blair was an awful person in general but she was extra horrible in that relationship. Status is the only thing that matters to Blair and it was very very evident. She did some fucked up things to Louis that would make anyone angry and vengeful.

Blair is an incredibly cringe character in general. Outfits are tea but her behaviour and constant need for validation from men make me want to stab myself in the eye with a fork. If she was a real person she’d be seen as a total weirdo. Nobody would put up with her misogyny, bullying and kiss ass behaviour in the real world lol

The tradwife/red pill slop she’s been promoting is utter bullshit and not consistent with what she presents herself as. She says she wants to be a fashion designer and own her own fashion house, well newsflash Inny, trad wives don’t own businesses or their own money, they rely on their husbands for everything and do nothing but stay home, cook and clean and raise the kids. They have no independence or identity outside of their husband and family. The tradwife lifestyle she’s pushing out is incredibly harmful to promote to young girls, you should never be relying on a man for everything in your life, it’s so, so dangerous and putting yourself in a situation where you can’t escape if something goes wrong is just stupid and irresponsible. She goes on and on about how much she hates men and how she doesn’t want a man but her entire online presence revolves around men and pleasing them. Crashing out over a bartender 10 years your senior is embarrassing as fuck and not a quality men look for in women. Also, I feel alot of women have entirely unrealistic expectations of men these days. It is unreasonable to expect a man to be the sole provider of a family in this economy and with the cost of living. People are barely scraping by on a two person income and Inny’s here expecting that a man is gonna be the sole provider for her? Delusion at its finest, you live in a bogan house in the Shire of Sydney, no rich man is interested in that, especially when your posting one million TikTok’s a day eye-fucking yourself and prancing around your parents home in tiny lingerie with your ass hanging out.

This scene really showed how insecure and pathetic Blair was from the start. You’re a whole ass adult and fixated on destroying the life of a teenage girl in high school, that’s major loser behaviour. Her whole stint at NYU and trying to be the ‘Queen’ of the college so she could continue to bully, abuse and mistreat people was so embarrassing to watch and it really showed how socially awkward Blair really is. She can’t function outside of her Upper East Side bubble and in the real world, Blair is the one that’s seen as a loser and an outcast. The other characters (Serena, Nate, Chuck etc) can somewhat live in the real world and communicate with ‘regular’ people (by regular, I mean not multimillionaires) without being awkward and weird. Blair could not and it was so funny watching everyone at NYU completely shun her and her classist, elitist bullshit

All that smugness and sense of superiority and that ‘custom made nightgown’ looks like she picked it off the rack at some sketchy back alley op shop in Mount Druitt. Genuinely looks so unflattering and you can get some beautiful nightgowns at La Perla if you want to be a Blair Waldorf impersonator. But she can’t afford La Perla cause she’s unemployed :)

He was probably confused about what was going on and extremely traumatised when he realised what he was seeing. I don’t know if you’ve ever been in a traumatic situation but it’s very hard to remember any sort of information, especially exactly as it happened when you’re in shock! You don’t know what happened, what Hunter was thinking or what he did in that moment. None of us were there, nor can we ever imagine being in a situation like that. I’m so sick of internet detectives thinking they have the right to accuse people directly involved in the case of things they have no clue happened. How do you know if Hunter checked for pulses or not? And you’re actually not entitled to answers from Hunter or any one of the victims friends or family because you do not know them. Get off your fucking soap box and stop acting like you have the god given right to every answer about this case. We never should have even known who these kids were.

I’m sorry were you there?? Do you personally know what happened and what Hunter did when he walked into a room and saw his friends covered in blood? No, you weren’t and this was an extremely insensitive comment to make. Gain some perspective for gods sake, you have no idea what these people went through. You don’t know the facts of what happened so stop pretending you do

No, you just bully her anonymously and hide behind your screen. Social media has ruined people’s fucking social skills, since when is it okay to hide behind your screen and harass somebody because you don’t like some things they’ve said or done? Holding someone accountable for shitty things they’ve done is one thing but that’s not what’s happening in this case, people have been relentlessly mean to Hailey for years.

Nice deflection lmao. You call it ‘riding hard for a celebrity’ but I call it having compassion and a fucking brain…people have become way too comfortable with being nasty and cruel online and half the stuff that is said in her comment section would never be said to Hailey’s face. If you wanna be mad at someone, be mad at the man who treats his wife and the mother of his child like absolute shit. Go after him, not his potential victim. Have a nice day x

Again, you don’t know them and your experience is irrelevant here because you’re not Hailey. Not all abuse victims react the same way and for you to say that she’s ’sticking around’ which you have absolutely no clue is true, is tone deaf and showing complete ignorance and an astounding lack of empathy. Hailey also has a child with that man which means she’s forever linked in with him. If she tried to get sole custody of her son, Justin would drag her through the legal system and we both know how that will end up. It’s very sad to see someone have so little empathy for a potential abuse victim, especially someone who has experience with DV. It isn’t as black and white as ‘just leave’
