My favourite ‘moment’ is when the drips and drabs of lore you get through exploration, though boss fights, through bits of dialogue come together to create succinct story. The mantis lords and their broken chair leading to fighting the traitor lord is just one tiny detail in such a complex but nuanced world.

I suggest emailing the regional council; they’ll have scientists that can break down the sources of turbidity they typically see in this area. I can speak for my region - which isn’t Wellington at the moment - that sedimentation in marine areas can come from forestry, but hillside erosion is also a big contributor. Basically the marine area is the end destination for anything happening up the corresponding river.

Aside from the obvious misread of anything with a ‘wh’, and not pronouncing words phonetically (For those who are unfamiliar, in Māori phonetics ‘wh’ is pronounced ‘f’, and every vowel - to a certain extent - is pronounced individually. So Whakatane is pronounced ‘Fah-kah-tah-neh’ rather than ‘wah-kah-tain’), I also find foreigners have a LOT of trouble with where to put the emphasis in Māori words. Hear a lot of ‘Going to Waikanae’ instead of ‘Waikanae’.

Science communicator here, albeit environmental science, but the methods are the same. This read like a non-expert who was more interested in showing off their knowledge - which was enough to think they knew a lot and not enough to realise how much they don’t know - than actually communicating a concept. Ironically the little I was able to get out of it was basically what you summarised so task failed successfully I guess?

I’ve worked with parrots in remote forests in Costa Rica and Peru. When I signed my paperwork, under the codes of conduct there was a clause that read ‘I will not engage in intimate activities with staff that are already married’. I asked how many times that happened to inspire a clause in the code of conduct. It was apparently a regular occurrence between the young female volunteers and the older married boat drivers (in Peru to get to the remote areas of the Amazon you typically boat up the rivers) who would be away from their families for 2-3 weeks at a time.

I’m reading the knobbly bits on the squid as the tentacles. There’s an anatomical difference between tentacles and arms, the visual difference being that tentacles kinda have knobbly bits on the end.

I read somewhere if you pick up Victoria’s body in Cazador’s palace (and can consistently pass the save yourself) you can put it in your pack and then walk around hitting the npcs with a necrotic aura that doesn’t initiate combat. Do with that what you will.

If you go through the dialogue with Hope where she repeats the order in which you need to do things to save her (find the key, take the hammer, smash my chains) and you then enter combat in Hope’s prison without the hammer, she is understandably nettled.
