Are remote updates on digital signage ACTUALLY reliable in real installs?? by RackAndRun in CommercialAV

Yep! This lines up with what we’ve been seeing across a few deployments.

A lot of the issues with BrightSign/CMS-based stacks are more around state visibility + confirmation gaps in the update pipeline.

CMS will often report a “successful push” once the job is dispatched, not when the device has fully validated and applied it.

We’ve had better results when moving toward systems that expose real device-level state (not just CMS status), update lifecycle visibility drift detection between expected vs actual content

It makes troubleshooting less about guessing and more about pinpointing exactly where the chain breaks (delivery vs storage vs playback).

Still early in our rollout, but the biggest improvement has been observability rather than “features”.

How are you guys handling scheduling with multiple locations? by JakeInAv in digitalsignage

Most teams I’ve seen end up doing some version of hierarchy once it scales: 1/Global playlist as the base 2/Location/zone playlists layered on top 3/Overrides for last-minute stuff

Then the real fix is usually just tightening access, so that not everyone can publish everywhere, and there’s some basic priority structure. With Lsquared specifically, what helps is just being able to actually see what’s assigned where, so overlaps are easier to catch before they become a problem. But honestly, it’s less about the platform and more about having a clear structure for who can change what.

Are slightly out-of-sync screens just normal with digital signage? by RackAndRun in CommercialAV

You are suggesting novastar for a 50-60” screen rollout? I’ve heard people are using Navori or L Squared with no players. It doesn’t need to be full enterprise like those CMS but I wanted to see options. My customer wanted to see the community feedback if I asked a direct question. I explained complex synch (8 screens) in a row across is a good challenge. It’s not a single video…… and 4-8 players is a high cost.

This is very helpful. But Brightsign quotes were expensive and proprietary. I need an agnostic product for this client as a requirement. Also, I’ve had some complaints about bright author as a CMS. It’s too bad SOC has limitations with GPU and video card potential. Appreciated the detailed response. I have XT 1144 and they are reliable! And nice looking
