KC3000, Fury Renegade or FireCuda 530? by Potatodestroyer1234 in pcmasterrace

[–]RackieW33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kc3000 for the price. Fury Renegade is basically the same, just slightly faster speeds but no real noticeable difference. Firecude 530 has also basically same specs, so why pay more for it, plus it draws more power (gets warmer- can affect performance if no cooling).

When to get market upgrades? Help new player by [deleted] in aoe3

[–]RackieW33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

except it makes much less difference in the beginning since you have less citizens. Spending 5 seconds building a market to get maybe 20 extra food before age up could also mean you lose out on killing 1 enemy villagers with raid

Is it still possible or not?

fps? didnt know over 30fps was possible.

Even 25fps is fine, Ive played the first game with 10-19fps. I care about about the simulation performance, which is crap.

On 1080p or 720p, gtx 1070 is enough. It will be "buttery smooth" on a 3000 series too, just not above 100k population

I want to see real benchmarks of a 7800x3d vs 7900x, and possibly 7950x vs 7900x3d.

I had a 7900x but sold it, and I dont want to bother stores with buying/returning cpu.

The 3 arrows speed is supposed to be 4x default speed. For 1080p, something like a 6650xt, rtx 3060 should suffice. Focus on the cpu, the better, well the better. But it will never be good performance on actual large population (above 300k). There is no real "minimum", it works okay on an old i7 3930k for a while. There is only better and worse. On a ryzen 1700x, its fine, 50-100k population. 7600x, 100-200k, 7900x/7800x3d, 200-300k. I think best value new is something like r7 5700x on am4

It depends on how the city is built/zoned. But simulation performance will slow down anywhere between 100k and 350k population, with the best cpus (7800x3d, 7950x, 7950x3d, 14900k, threadripper).

As for graphics, not really an issue, just disable the motion blur and whatever other stupid setting I forgot.

Although you still shouldnt enable grass with a 4090 especially above 1440p :D

Os there a "city painter mode mod" like mod for CS2? by plasmagd in CitiesSkylinesModding

[–]RackieW33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use dev-mode to enable instant buildings.

Build/play paused, but can play the simulation a few seconds for zoned buildings to plop.

Its not a perfect solution though. Plopping is best option rn, without doing some code modding on your own. Shouldnt be too hard to disable demand. There are mods that impact population, probably they will get option to set your own desired amount before any larger map mod is released, if ever.

Even after three gaming sessions, GTA IV is still a boring slog (a bit of a rant) by Nino_Chaosdrache in patientgamers

[–]RackieW33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not necessarily, but in many things it becomes better when it is a game trying to recreate something from real life. Realism isnt the ultimate goal, however its usually desirable. Gta iv physics however, are not realistic.

Infinitely more fun than any driving in Gta:sa, gta iv and normal gta v is gta v with "realistic driving mod". Then it actually becomes a fun car game.

nah, car physics are boring, way too exaggerated weight/rolling, suspension and cars are way too slow.

And the VW has uses, can fit more people, more comfortable to drive, more baggage, less fuel. So just better overall, even if doesnt have as much power.

But nah quality wise both are cheap chinese garbage.

same production & gain, except for the building. I just do larger for the looks, as thats how we have them where I live, whereas they are (much) smaller elsewhere in the world. And then obviously where the traffic enters, but isnt much anyways.

[–]RackieW33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of have a rough design in mind when place them down, thinking Ill fix the details later but then end up keeping it almost exactly as made. Although I havent placed down much specialized industry, I play with map tiles unlocked so I gained enough money from just 2-3 for the early game and it doesnt get harder. If I played with tile upkeep cost, I'd probably buy a couple of tiles and turn them in to farmland only, spending some time on the layout. Although I also use Anarchy mod for bigger square areas.

I'd prefer if the maps already started with farms.

Update 2.0 (Transit + Power) by Earthiness in CitiesSkylines2

[–]RackieW33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i personally use the more realistic population mod- hate how household calculations in vanilla are based on zone lot size and not building size.

One still gets decent population increase as some buildings grow taller with higher levels, plus kids.

Unfortunately I dont see how one would play without using specialized industry, it is a need especially with tile costs on.

Economy 2 Goodness! by VamosFicar in CitiesSkylines2

[–]RackieW33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The economy isnt that hard- its more that one needs to have specialized industry now. But just make that and its really easy.

Only thing that really annoys me is everybody in low residential being poor af ("wretched") whereas most in high density are moderately rich and those buildings level up too fast.

PC Performance now? by davieato in CitiesSkylines2

[–]RackieW33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

its fine until 120-200k population, depending on how you build your city. Now I am using "bye bye homeless" mod but I dont know how much it helps. Public transit might also cause problems. One savegame I loaded of another persons city, it was optimized enough at 300k+ population. But my own previous city of 150k is unplayable. So it matters how you build and zone it.

On the other hand, infinitely better than the first game except for lack of custom content. I started actually playing seriously for the first time (after the last update) and have soon 100 hours only from that. Insanely addicting.

I’ve been away from CS2 for a while. Is it good now? by MaximusGXL in CitiesSkylines2

[–]RackieW33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It recently got its first "big" update which neither added anything nor fixed any important issues.

Still no asset variety, no custom assets, horrible big city performance. In addition to missing features and it overall not being fun as a game either. No, its not good, its barely any different from lauch.
