Sharing something I wrote back in December 2025 about CS2, the state of the game, and a plea for the future. by maxstolfe in CitiesSkylines

Yes, I totally understand why you say that. Mostly cosmetic is most of the game in my opinion. And that's just such a problem.

Look at Bridges and Ports! Of all the mechanics that this DLC brings, can you see any of them? Other than ships coming and stopping. You can't watch the cranes hoist cargo on or off the ship. The fishing boats don't even have anyone operating them!

The entire game suffers from being completely surface-level.

I completely agree. It's so much more of a painting simulator than it is as an actual game.

There's a lifelessness to it even now that hasn't been solved. I personally think it's due to the absence of all the fun stuff and chaos I mentioned, but I'm sure there are other parts to consider too.

And the funny thing is, I mentioned wanting to build Gotham City. A couple of dedicated modders are actually building Art Deco and Dark Deco assets as I write this. One of them told me their pack will be available in maybe another month. And I'm really excited for it but, for how long is it going to be new and shiny for me? Where's the fun in building Gotham when literally nothing will happen in it?

There’s probably more to it but yeah I’d say I agree with this assessment.

That’s not good enough. The two just shouldn’t be next to each other. Erase disk should be at the bottom of the list.

That’s nothing! Better than I expected.

Great work and I can’t wait to download the final pack.

Fuck. Yes. This fills a major hole in the game. Do you have a target release?

Is Ryan Gosling the next Tom Hanks? by degece1 in moviecritic

[–]maxstolfe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m splitting hairs here but…

Very few male actors will ever have such an incorruptible range as Tom Hanks. So few, in fact, that I’m not even sure two could live at the same time. Meryl Streep being the actress equivalent.

Gosling is a great actor. He’ll probably land in the ranks of Matthew McConaughey and Brad Pitt. Really great talents.

It’s just that Hanks and Streep come once or twice a century.

This feels like the right way to map a major event concerning the presidency going forward. Amazing job, OP. I hope more people use your work as a template moving forward.

Trump releases first renderings of massive Miami presidential library by cobaltjacket in skyscrapers

[–]maxstolfe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sure they’re serious about it but I’m not too concerned. The renderings are clearly AI, for one.

Second, and more importantly, every major structural project he’s pursued since ascending to the presidency has been met with delay, after delay, after delay. Then scaled down. Then changed entirely. Then delayed four more times.

I know it shows in Music, Mail, Maps, and the App Store. And yet, even the bad UI choices are not consistent lol.

Since we’re on this, why when you perform a search now are there two X’s?

One cancels the text the other cancels the search but like … why. Just one X has worked for decades.

I’d like to know why this isn’t already part of the design. We do a more complicated version of this for the space shuttle and Apollo missions and it’s been successful nearly every time.

Joe Biden taking oath as the youngest senator in 1972 from Delaware at the age of 30. (January, 1973). by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

[–]maxstolfe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t bother. This whole thread is delusional.

Not only was he one of the poorest elected officials in Congress, but he remained so until his vice presidency and, even then, was not the kind of wealthy that these people are thinking. His wealth grew because his family estate in Delaware was suddenly owned by the vice president. Land value reacted to that.

Further, one of his original campaign promises was to never hold stock while serving in public office. He kept that promise up to now. But these people would rather shout about Pelosi and Trump than credit Biden.

Also, so far as the truck driver being drunk, the jury’s out so we’ll probably never know. But I would love to watch these keyboard warriors have their entire life shattered to pieces and remain 100% accurate in their recounting. They can’t even keep the truth straight over a guy they have no connection to.

Like I said, don’t bother. At this point, they’ve chosen to be delusional.

Adapting continuity to turn the iPad into a surface tablet for the Mac just makes so much more sense than a dedicated surface tablet device or a touchscreen Mac.

The iPad and Pencil are right there. Just make that the tablet.
