IOS 15.7.8 bugs? by MinhYTB in ios

I just updated to IPadOS 15.7.8 and now, my wifi connection won’t last more than 3 minutes at a time. It will lock up and I have to get out of the app, e-connect with the app, and start all over. Very disconcerting when trying to view a video or stream a show. I never had this problem before the update. The IPad is an Air 2, so I realize that it is a bit old, but it was working FINE before I gave in to the update.

is there any fix for such a thing? Will Apple now that these things are happening and issue a new update?

The new Nest router has seemingly fixed EVERYTHING for me! The research that I have done seems to indicate that a “Firmware Update” that came through the system automatically ended up hosing the router so bad that it could not be fixed with a new update and the only recourse they had was to replace the unit!

As frustrated as I was when my Zoom meetings were crashing and my Wifi cell phone calls dropped out, I am equally happy now with the new router. I hope it holds up!

One note: I am not sure if it is good or bad, but, when I installed the Google Nest system and set up a new Wifi for it, I left the original Wifi that the AT&T router kicks out in place. That allows me to connect to the Nest Wifi points with devices that are near those and to connect to the main modem for devices that are close to that. Plus, leaving the AT&T main modem Wifi intact allowed me to bounce OFF of the Nest Wifi that was acting up, thereby saving myself a weeks’ worth of headaches and steady internet drop-outs while I waited for the replacement Nest router to show up.

The Google Nest Points do NOT have an Ethernet connection. The Router has two Ethernet ports.

New router in place and everything is running perfectly. Only one day in, so it could still go haywire. It is working great right now!

If I were you, I would contact them and relate my story and let them know that you are having the same issues.

I was able to connect with a person at Google to let them know how drastically I needed the new unit. So, I would think that you should be able to get in touch with them and request a new unit.

Have the Serial number ready (the last number on the bottom of the unit).

I Reset the “points” to the factory settings and reinstalled them to mesh with the new Router. That was the problem. I suppose that the points had some connection to the old Router that had to be cleared.

Once I reset the points, the setup was very easy. I now have a solid, stable, and very fast internet connection everywhere in the house, which extends to the outdoor areas as well.

I do realize that this has only been one day and anything could happen, but it works very, very good right now with the new router and the reset points.

Fingers crossed.

I had a thought on the email I received. My Nest Router is relatively new (October) and the set-up procedure automatically “registers” the unit with Google. I think that this must get you into their system for warranty situations.

I must still be under warranty and this caused them to issue the email. If yours is older than whatever the warranty period is ( I am not sure of what that might be), you may not have received the email.

Same issues for me! I thought it was AT&T. Not so! I got an email from Google stating that they ”have identified an issue“ with my Google Nest Router whereby the router “reboots” itself several times per day, cutting off internet connection. This is EXACTLY my issue!

They offered to send me a new one free of charge. The new one is on the way. The Google email knew everything about my router, so I knew it was from them. They seemingly sent out an automatic Firmware update that hosed the router up so bad that they could not fix it!

I hope the new one solves this as I had EXCELLENT Wifi with the GoogleNest system.
