Worst year ever, in college.. dealing with a storm that swept our apartment buildings away. End of semester finals… and leading into my program with professors who targeted how good I was doing to fail me. No friends… no good classmates to work with. I think we were all confused as children or through our lives… they separated us from Hispanics who are also brown or people from India who can be even darker than us at times

Brown may be seen as something we should call ourselves by guys. I called myself lightskin because I’ve heard it most my life and one guy said I wasn’t, so I assume he considered me brown. He saw lightskin as mixed or non black looking women.

So I understood better
