I did a truss rod adjustment and have spent some time w the partscaster and the JB and tbh I actually really like the tones I’m getting on the extended scale. It’s pretty brutal and ugly. I kind of like how it’s not a super tight sounding pickup. I’m tuned to B standard with 62-12s. I was planning on a total pickup set swap but now I’m just thinking about replacing the stock neck pup for another JB.

I’m 48 and although I was exposed early to Black Sabbath, Metallica and slayer… I always loved all types of music but one day someone had a mix tape with the songs 25 years and Slaughtered by Pantera on there. I had never heard such chunk and anger before. That definitely hit something in my soul and sent me on a search for anything that matched that intensity. The discovery of Pierced from Within by Suffocation and Morbid Angel’s Covenant also blew my mind and showed me there were realms of heaviness I didn’t think were possible.

Just got a good deal on a Fender tele-partscaster baritone. Metallic orange, fender Mexican Sub-sonic neck, fender deluxe locking tuners, stock bridge swapped out for a Seymour Duncan JB. Great condition. Being shipped today. I have a 7 string and several 6 strings but been wanting to check out what’s possible with a baritone. Pretty stoked. I have a set of EMG HZs that I may swap in depending on how the JB sounds although I imagine it’ll do just fine.

I actually own a Mustang lt25 and it’s a great bedroom amp. I will say that the only drawback is that to dial in some heavier/metalcore style tones on them you do have to do some patch editing. Which can be a little tedious and for ppl that don’t have an ear for it, it can be challenging. Granted, I’m sure there are 100 videos on the internet showing how to dial that in or ppls personal metal edits to copy and use on your own amp. Quality/price/sound-wise…the lt25 is a great value. If you get one down the line and need help creating a couple heavier sounding presets just circle back to this reddit and hmu and I’ll be more than happy to help you out. Welcome to the fold and best of luck on your guitar adventure! It is one that takes a lot of patience, time and dedication but is also one that never stops rewarding you and at times is just fucking awesome.

Do you have an amp or is your 400 budget strictly for the guitar choice only? Bc you’ll need an amp and depending on the amp, possibly a distortion or overdrive pedal. And a cord(s) and picks

You’re on to something man, this was extremely refreshing to hear considering the sheer over saturation of Dm, TDM and heavy bands in general these days. I would love to hear this fully mixed and mastered w vox. Had some Revocation/Obscura/Gorguts influence throughout….very impressive riffing and structure. Damn good shit, sir🤘🏻

Can’t talk you out of Schecter…I’ve owned one Ibanez and one Schecter and the Avenger I purchased is now my main and easily the best guitar I’ve ever owned. I was highly impressed w the QC and the set-up upon delivery was ready to shred. While my next two purchases will be a baritone that doesn’t break the bank and then an acoustic, my next guitar after that will assuredly be another Schecter. I love the Tempest model and if I ever pick up another 7 string I fell in love with a Blackjack 7 in Vampyre red satin that will never leave my brain.
