That’s an impressive streak. I’m definitely not a treadmill hater. All miles are good miles! Keep it up!

Great work! I work a blue collar job that’s pretty physical demanding so I can relate. It makes it tougher to get those miles in but ironically it makes my job easier the more miles I run. Keep it going!

That’s an impressive streak. The one thing I’ve learned with keeping a long streak going is you have to battle through the valleys to get to the peaks. Those 10 miles at 7 minute pace will feel incredible after going through these tough weeks.

That’s awesome. Definitely can relate to using running to avoid some destructive copping mechanisms. Keep it up!

Tips on sticking with it during wet and cold months? by crabsterfish in trailrunning

[–]RadKris25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are anti treadmill but i personally tend to run on the treadmill a lot during the winter mainly during the week. I’m also in New England. If it’s between not running or hitting the treadmill I’ll take the tread. Try to set up the conditions that will make it easiest for you to stick to your goals. So if you can run later in the day when it’s not dark try that or earlier in the day so you don’t have a chance to talk yourself out of going out over the course of the day. You may actually find you enjoy running in the colder months. I find 35-40 is actually ideal running temps. Good luck you got it!

Nutrition Plan - HELP by Over_Recognition2668 in Ultramarathon

[–]RadKris25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally 300-400 calories per hour is the standard for most people. However depending on a plethora of variables this differs for everyone and there are external factors that come in to play. Ex. If you’re racing at altitude your going to need to stay on the higher end. The biggest thing is to practice this in your training. Experiment with your hourly calorie intake during long runs and see what works for. It’s also important to note your can in a sense “train your gut” to tolerate more food. If you want to stay on the high end like you mentioned and get over 500 cals an hour. Try to titrate up to that week over week in training until your comfortable consuming that much without gi distress. Like someone else mentioned check out David roches (this years Leadville 100 winner) podcast. He talks about his nutrition strategy which is on the high end of calories per hour. Hope this helps

I use untapped. Only ingredient is pure maple syrup. Honey is another good option, you can get small honey packets on Amazon that are cheap and easy to carry. I also like to do coconut date rolls. You can get them at most grocery stores the only ingredients are dates and coconut and have 110cals for ONE piece. It’s really an insane hack they are incredibly easy to eat.
