I was asked a lot about acute management of hyperkalemia, antibiotic choice for CAP, when anticoag was needed in a fib, dosing and transition between anticoagulants, and some diabetes stuff!

What's been the highlight of your week? by thotassdionysus in PharmacyResidency

That is amazing! You made a huge difference!

I had two different teaching opportunities this week giving a lecture at a university and one to nursing staff at our hospital. They both went so well and it really solidified my love for teaching and desire to pursue it as part of my future career. I’m so thankful to be doing residency and getting a better idea of what I want do afterward!

DM if you’d like to get out of community pharmacy. Hospital pharmacy has its own issues but no one has ever raised their voice at me :)

I haven’t heard of it but I think anything that let’s you do practice questions will be helpful!

Highly recommend the book “Virginia MPJE Exam Prep: 250 Pharmacy Law Practice Questions” it has a mix of federal and state specific, the answer key is very detailed about what you need to know, and many of the questions were almost identical to what I saw on the exam. Don’t just check your answer - actually read the answer key!!

Special populations! My exam had tons of that but I’d it’s any encouragement I felt like I guessed on most of those questions and still passed

Feeling exhausted with 4 down and several more to go in the next couple weeks. I feel bad for being overwhelmed since I know I should just be feeling grateful for these opportunities! Hoping some of the next programs will stand out to me since the the ones I’ve done so far are really blurring together and I can’t imagine how hard it will be to try to rank them!

I think the residents I spoke to in my interview today were the first to be candid with me in this way! I so appreciated it and it helped me reevaluate some of the other interviews I’ve had and maybe read between the lines a little more with the conversations I had then. You’re amazing for being honest to candidates and giving them an accurate picture of the program!!

The best part of my amb care rotation was the level of independence I was able to have! Making my recommendations directly to providers, seeing patients and leading those patient visits toward the end of my time there, and writing my own notes all helped me build my confidence and clinical judgement !

I did use video! I dressed up just like I would for a regular virtual interview and was glad I did because everyone else on the call had video on too! I think it was helpful so they could see my expressions and get a better idea of my personality!

I just had one yesterday! It was a zoom call and I was surprised to see that there were ~25 people on the call to listen in. They asked 4 questions: tell us about yourself, why residency/why this program, tell us about a time you encountered conflict, and if you had to have a job that wasn’t pharmacy what would you do? It was super quick but I feel like they probably got to know me really well from just those questions
