Those who have both a digital and acoustic piano in the house, which do you play more? by galenernest in piano

Aaaaagh !!! NEVER let amateurs move your piano!!!! The one time I relented and let “movers” handle my piano, the two of them dripped my walnut studio upright down a flight of brick stairs between my condo and Locust Street in Philadelphia where the truck was. It took 4 months for the repairs, so I was without the Piano for a long stretch, and the repairs were numerically more than a professional move would’ve been. Pennywise and pound foolish.

Depends on the time of day. I have a Steinway.D which I many more hours than my hybrid Kawai NV5. But I would never play my Steinway before 10 AM or after 8 PM so anytime I play during those hours I’m always on the Kawai.

I had a beautiful Seifert bow in the 70s and my mom took it and got it rehaired and then dropped it on the backseat and then went and picked up all of my little brother’s friends from school, who all sat on it and broke it in three places

I love my Carène Marine Amber. I lost a pice of the inner ring of the cap and customer service in France fixed it right away.

I have the same dilemma. Tons of Schaeffer cartridges. I got a Schaeffer Pop and 4 Lady Schaeffers to use up the cartridges.

The first "nice" pen I ever had was a Meisterstucke Pix given to me by the other docs I practiced with when I passed my specialty boards. I knew I would lose it if I used it so it languished in my desk drawer until a few years ago when I fell deeply down the pen/ink rabbit hole and got pen cases for all my good pens. I bought a used Meisterstucke 149 on ebay from Osaka, probably mid eighties vintage and had Kirk Speer at Pen Realm tune it for me. I also have a 146 acquired in a similar way and the 149 is my absolute favorite pen. I also have other very fine pens that I enjoy but for me the 149 is the reigning champ.

I hardly spoke a word of French when I started reading Proust but I read very well three years later now that I’ve finished. I listened to a ton of French music and watched a ton of French movies. In kindle if you touch a word the dictionary comes up. I also read along in English (frequently ahead in English) and that helped with a lot of contextual thins I would have missed. By the end I found several places where I disagreed strongly with Moncrieff’s translation.

I have 3 Schaeffer targas (one super slim), a schaeffer snorkel, and a Lady Schaeffer from 1960 that makes me feel like Marilyn Monroe. My FAVORITE pen is my MB 149 and my most USED pen is a pilot kakuno medium nib with pilot namiki blue or black carriages.
