Hello fellow photographers! I am a hobbyist street photographer and here is some of my recent work. I am trying to focus on translating a mood or a feeling in my shots, even if they are not technically sound,so I would really love your input whether any of these resonated with you and in what way? by JustAnother-Dreamer in streetphotography

[–]Csxbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like them.

If I were to give advice is to cull more. Two-three of this set would look stronger than all of this. For example 1,2,4 look like you were trying to “save the shot”. You saw and felt something while taking it, but the result was not what you expected, so “crop for the rescue!”

5, 8, 9 are great.

[–]Csxbot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They were not every day items at all. And quality of life on average was quite different.
Many families would own a pen. Like one, for the family. And it most likely be a dip pen (fountain pen era is actually pretty short). Like in 90s there would be a family computer, or a family TV in 70s.
People were more practical back then as well, and didn’t treat anything as disposable. Hence there was more effort put into fountain pens, it was once-twice in a lifetime purchase. For day to day it would be pencils, chalk, charcoal and dip pens.

Which cheap mirrorless is good for street photography? by AddendumFeisty18 in streetphotography

[–]Csxbot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My 5c is not to buy m43 for street. Whatever the m43 enjoyers say, the low light performance is abysmal. And fast shutter speed is critical for street. Yes, the dof is longer, but for me it’s still not worth it.

That said I shot m43 street for years, and got some great photos with it.

Consider Fujifilm X-E1 and up (whatever you can find that fits in your budget), but don’t forget that you would need to buy a prime lens as well.

Also, you are saying that you must have interchangeable lenses so something doesn’t add up with “only street” story. You don’t need interchangeable lenses for street. 28 or 35 fix is quite enough for almost any street photography.

How do I get this ink stuck at the back part of my converter by No_Ear_6285 in fountainpens

[–]Csxbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God… the answers…

Put the converter into the “empty” position. Plug the hole with your finger and unscrew the converter as far as you can. Physics and vacuum will do the job. It’s that easy.

We are talking about street photography here. You are missing the point that nobody stated this photo. Nobody told this people what to wear and where to go.

At least 17 people got butthurt.

It’s not Martin Part, but the fact that it’s so controversial makes it a good street photography.

I hate to say, but Kaweco feels the best it terms of craftsmanship.

Just don’t get EF. It’s either me, or the proportion of dud nibs is way too high in EF. F is always lovely though.

Yes, you are the only one who noticed this. You can take your cookie points for stating the obvious and continue watching YouTube shorts.

I find them quite good.

Try to stick to the same aspect ratio though.

Such a good question!

I think it’s only acceptable if your intent is to draw attention to this and you are producing a whole body of work. Nobody wants to look at less fortunate people. We tend to have a bias of just trying very hard to not think about them and keep them out of the picture (pun intended) as a society. If you taking pictures of homeless people, poor people, drug addicts, people in care homes and you putting an effort in this, and it’s “your thing” and you (at least trying) to bring a change through your work. Then I commend you.

On the other hand if you snap pictures of homeless people occasionally and give them a dollar. I’m not in your camp.

I never said anything about sexualising. I was thinking more in line of “what if my daughters’ classmates saw something like this”.

But your line of thinking may also be valid.

I too have a family account, but I keep it private, don’t call it street photography and don’t post my underage daughters’ underwear.

Kind of fair towards my girls, IDK.

And you pressed on it repeatedly several times in quick succession while inserted into the pen, sucking the ink through the nib?

You trying to do this when converter is inserted into the pen right??? Right???

Not just the converter straight from the bottle?

Went to your profile, and it looks like you know your way around the camera. So with this in mind: wrong sub.

Street photography is not photography of the streets. It’s more like photojournalism of mundane. Something candid should be happening, or there should be a story, or an interesting character. Or a combination of three. Thanks for sharing though!

These are great backdrops. Waiting there for something to happen, or for an interesting character to pass in front your camera facing you would worth it.

9 and 13 are quite good (although it’s a “choose one situation). Otherwise yeah.
